It may not be entirely unconnected to their changinging consumption habits. From what I've read, the Lindley Meadows, Golden Gate Pak SF outdoor gig on 28th September 1975 (one of the "30 Trips Around The Sun" shows), was last occasion the band collectively used LSD on stage.
It blows my mind that people can be together enough to play music at all on LSD, never mind play cohesively within the confines of a band (even one as loose as the Dead). Jules I agree with that entirely.

Carlos Santana allegedly was on acid @ Woodstock. Personally, I used to find going to the shops, or making a cup of tea in that state all a bit complicated.

I have (well, I don't but it's staring at me from 4 feet away waiting for me to do something with it for a mate) a, possibly unique and unopened (as in, still sealed in its delivery box) copy of Europe '72: The Complete Recordings.
No idea what it's worth, but I guess we'll find out...

Cheapest on eBay is c.£650 (+ P&P) And that's "just" the music, not the box, book etc etc... This is one of the first ones as well with a number and message.... Only one in a box (and limited but named, which this one isn't - it has a Dead lyric rather than a name listed) is £765 + £80... Sadly, I'm only on a set fee Any suggestions on courier services to the US (as I bet this heads that way).....?

I must have missed the boat, they must have realised their mistake. I get the message, " This is awkward, we've searched high and low and can find no such title".
Bo****ks!
