He was the most recorded drummer in the history of pop music. Hal Blaine died today at the age of 90. As a member of “The Wrecking Crew”, he played on 38 Billboard #1 records. He played drums on the Grammy winner for “Record of the Year” SEVEN YEARS IN A ROW. What a legacy.

An absolute titan of popular music. I had no idea he was that sort of age. RIP.

RIP Hal.  A musician who always put the song first, rather than his ego.

Anyone seen the film "Love & Mercy", in which he's played by Johnny Sneed in scenes recreating the making of Pet Sounds? He (Hal) stated it was a really good recreation of what those sessions were like. Must have been incredible times.

Only in comparatively recent years have The Wrecking Crew and The Funk Brothers received anything like proper recognition for the parts they have placed in "pop" music history. Hal Blaine was perhaps the greatest of them all. RIP.

Tom Robinson has announced that unhappy news that TRB guitarist Danny Kustow has died. One of my first, and best, guitar heroes. The incendiary guitar work on the Power in the Darkness album informed most of my first, stumbling efforts in playing, and I’m very sad to see him go.

I had the pleasure of seeing Dick Dale at a now-defunct small club on Red River twice in the last ten years. Both times, he alluded to his poor health from the stage. I might add he still played brilliantly, with no evidence of his failing health in his performance. RIP

Oh Scott Engel...that’s really sad news. He was one of my favourite singers of the 1960’s and I actually own his award from Music Life Readers Poll for music artist of the year 1970
