I've got vague memories of asking the same question either here or on Fairporters a few years back, and not getting anything very useful in return. But it has certainly always fascinated me since I first heard about it, so I hope somebody who was there comes out of the woodwork.

From what i remember reading somewhere, Fairport were the support act for Lou along with Phillip Goodhand-Tait. They both did a short set in support

Autumn tour merch? Do I need to bring my wallet (apart from for Peggy's birthday present, of course)?
(I have a nagging feeling I may already have asked this but I'm damned if I can remember where or what the reply was)

I wonder how they'll be celebrating fifty years of Gottle O' Gear next year..? Ha! There are many far far worse Fairport albums than Gottle. How about a box set with that, Swarbrick and Swarbrick 2 and a bit of live stuff on it? Sell about 8 copies of course, but hey... ps Geer

ps 'Walk Awhile' Ha ha. As stated, lifted from Peascod's post of a few days ago, so on this single occasion NOT GUILTY (although I actually corrected one mistake in the list so am annoyed about that one - there's a couple more too)...

I had a dream last night that someone, using - I assume - AI technology, had managed to meld Sandy's vocal from the original FC version of WKWTTG with the current line-up's twin fiddle arrangement - and it sounded quite simply beautiful.
(I hadn't been drinking, or partaking of anything stronger than Cheddar cheese).

Lou Reed was ok too, I'd seen him before close up not long before at Manchester poly much more than this i might need to go under a spot of mesmerism as it was over 50 years ago and i used to like a drink in those daze

Crikey Jim! That’s an amazing addition to the canon! In the absence of a Mesmer, do you remember any of the set list?

I’m torn between hoping this is true and considering Jim’s sense of humour. Mind you, in doing the research, Setlist.fm has thrown up the remarkable Fairport/Ian Hunter encore jam earlier in ‘72. It could have all been so different - “No, thanks David, we’ve decided to go with ‘Breakfast in Mayfair’ as the comeback single…”

THE very best concert. I was bang in the centre of the front row of the circle. Perfect sound and view. Pity about my other half who wasn't even remotely interested. We split up soon afterwards....

Here's my photo with a shy Linda Thompson immediately after the following evening's Incredible String Band gig. Unforgettable two nights, and meeting her was the icing on the cake.

Great photo, John! I was also lucky enough to be there, and agree it was one of the best I’ve been to.
