Peggy Seeger is taking a different approach;
A statement from me and my sons, Neill MacColl & Calum MacColl, regarding our Kings Place Concert – 6th June 2025
Like many other artists, we were unhappy to learn that Kings Place is due to host a defense conference sponsored by Lockheed Martin later this year. After careful consideration, we have decided to go ahead with our performance this week.
Kings Place Music Foundation is a charity close to our hearts. Over the past 17 years, the organisation has built a unique platform for diverse, alternative and dissenting voices in the performing arts and the wider community, and brought folk music into the heart of the venue's major creative projects and initiatives. We believe that cancelling our concert could impact the future of Kings Place Music Foundation, which would be detrimental to future artists and their ability to perform in a prestigious venue in the capital.
We understand that the conference booking was not made by Kings Place Music Foundation, but by Green & Fortune, and have been assured that jointly they are putting a more robust ethical policy and procedure in place to ensure that this never happens again.
We appreciate that different people take different forms of action, and respect alternative decisions made by other artists. At the age of 90, this will be my final London concert before I retire from touring, so we do not have the option to reschedule. We believe that we must all continue to call out injustice and hypocrisy in line with our own consciences, in order that collectively we can bring about positive change.
We will be donating a percentage of the profits from the concert to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society.
