Little oddity yesterday, listening to Jazz FM on that car radio and the Ric Sanders Trio pop up with a song called Louis Collins.

Coincidentally I was listening to Ralph McTell : Blue Skies, Black Heroes just the other day and it includes 'Louis Collins'.

Fascinating snippet from an interview with Nile Rodgers in the current issue of Mojo. Apparently when he first met Bernard Edwards and was forming the band that would become Chic in the early 70s, his idea/ambition was that the band should be a blend of Fairport Convention, Country Joe & The Fish and the Grateful Dead. Bernard was less than enamoured of this idea and the rest is history but who would have pegged Nile as a Fairport fan? Chic for Cropredy!

Not a chance.  As a Leftfield suggestion (Leftfield?!) for a Thursday headliner that would bring their own crowd...how about (featuring 2 of the Campfire band) The National?  Almost certainly too big and too expensive, I suppose...

That’s hardly their fault.

I wasn't suggesting it was, just that maybe they're not really that big so probably not that expensive.

To me (to you!), too big and expensive for Cropredy is James Taylor, CSN, The Stones!

And, as I always do when someone on TAW mentions a band I've not heard of, I will go and search them out and see what they're like Smiley

Peggy has made no secret that he would love to have James Taylor play at Cropredy but admits the cost is prohibitive.

Any two from the list below for headliners:

Pretenders, Kt Tunstall, Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbot (sp), Deacon Blue, The Mavericks, Lady Antebellum, Mike and the Mechanics, Simple Minds, Alison Moyet, The Beat, Jamie Cullum, Stranglers, Jamie Cullum, Counting Crows, Echo and the Bunnymen,

We seem to have moved a long way from Nile Rodgers wanting Chic to sound like Fairport.

Isn't there usually s dedicated thread for Cropredy wish lists for next year?

Apart from The Pretenders, that list represents 15 reasons why we don’t go anymore.
Jamie Cullum appearing twice would be torturous.  IMHO.

So difficult this; no idea who is available and whether that would be affordable. I must say I never thought I see Alice C or Brian W.

How does a hand find these things out?

Quite, my list was more of a "this is the kind of band" than a "I really want this band" - apart from the Pretenders and Jamie Cullum who would be brilliant IMHO, though many will disagree and already have.
