Speaking of Peggy... just realised, when looking at the liner notes for his 60th birthday bash album, that he'll hit 70 this year!  Shocked

The last time they were on Loose Ends was a couple of years ago.  It was a frosty night and we were driving home from a friend's house in Rugby.  They played Myths and Heroes just as we arrived at the turning to Cropredy so we turned off, stopped in the village to listen to that and the interview, and then had a beautiful moonlit walk round the village till we got too cold and drove into Banbury to find somewhere for dinner.

This week's Loose Ends was a good one : Rick Wakeman playing 'Life on Mars' and Eliza Carthy playing something else.  Smiley

Grumble  Angry

Over on the Facebook Fairporters group, they seem to have taken over the mantle from us and the mailing list, of being miserable old gits. So I posted this:

This group is called Fairporters, so you have to assume people joined because they're fans. Maybe it's time to get behind your team.
Some respect is due for 50 years of service. Maybe everything isn't exactly to your taste, but this year how about being a supporter.

I'd like this to apply here. Just asking nicely.

The best ever chance to see the face of Peggy is now at hand.
Will this bring a cluster of astronomers to Cropredy?

This may be the wrong thread .
If so, Mods , please move.
A lot of you will know that my best male mate Gareth , life long Fairport afficiando with almost 30 Cropredies under his belt , died in 2011. Aged 59. We sprinkled his ashes on the field during MOTL 2012.
On his death his wife , Ce,had given me his GROUP DISBANDS SENSATION poster that. he acquired from outside the Brase in 1979.
She came round for lunch today and has been clearing out her loft.
She found and gave me the Ashley Hutchings box set, Burning Bright , 4 Cd's and one of Nigel Schofield's excellent accompanying ' booklets'.(!).
She thought he would want me to have it.
So some serious reading and listening and a great memory of my mate and a lot of Cropredies together.

I was lucky enough to be directing a Youth Theatre in Kent in the late 70's to 87.
So Saturday morning taking kids to workshops in the National Theatre and then seeing performances in the evening.
Productions of Lark Rise and the Mysteries.
It was when I started to realise how good Ashley was, with a cracking house band, The Albion Band, including John Tams. (Which morphed into Home Service when Ashley left in 1980?? I must read Nigel's book (let)!!!!!
Magical times , which I could drone on about for ages ,so this new acquisition is very special.

Blimey Dave. I'll try. Sheena is better at these things than me!
When Ce gave it to me , I took it Sheena's framers .....for framing!
They rang to say did I know there were 2 small holes in it!!
I had to explain they were there as it had hung on a tree outside the Brase.
It now hangs next to a FC poster for a uni gig, I don't have the yr but it was 75p on the door(!), which just has a great pic of Swarb.
My daughter got me the poster for a b day pressie a few yrs ago cos the gig happened to be on March 9th.
My b day.
So I go into our downstairs Loo and I am greeted by memories of my mate Gareth, and Swarbie
Before you ask the gig is at TPSU! Trent Poly?HuhHuh?
