Blimey, I never knew Phil(thy) had gone, all those years ago...

Wurzel eh?

Yer Tiz... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Quasi-B-Goode-Feat-Wurzel/dp/B002G7D9JE

Ah, the wonderfully warped genius that is Les Barker. I was just listening to the Mrs Ackroyd Band recently with me and MrsB singing along to "Will The Turtle Be Unbroken" in the car.

Have I missed something here - Les Barker?

If you've never heard him, most definitely. We once took someone to see him for the first time. He disappeared near the end, and we found him outside lying down and holding his stomach. He'd laughed so much , he'd hurt himself!!

As far as I'm aware, Les Barker is still alive and touring.

The reference to Les, was in relation to his song Quasi-B-Goode, featuring among others Wurzel, who had replaced Fast Eddie Clarke in Motorhead.

That probably qualifies as off-topic...  Roll Eyes

Cheers

It was actually Brian Robertson who replaced Eddie but he didn't last long and was then replaced by Wurzel and Phil Campbell for another short-lived line-up with Pete Gill on drums. I think Campbell then stayed as Motorhead's only guitarist up to the end.

Yes, apologies - getting off topic here.

A real cr*p day with the great Dan Gurney also going! Cranberries were one of my fave bands back in the 1990s. RIP Dolores

The news of Dolores saddens me deeply - the fragility and sensitivity of her voice always struck me at a very personal level.

BBC News website is reporting the death of gospel singer Edwin Hawkins.

I never really "got" the Cranberries, but I thought Dolores' voice was so "human"... Her singing on Jah Wobble's "The Sun Does Rise" is lovely.

Ditto re the Cranberries. I saw them supporting REM on the Monster tour and they just left me cold. But I'll see if I can find that Jah Wobble song.

I gave Oh Happy Day a listen just now on YouTube and when I scrolled down found one or two George Harrison tracks though not My Sweet Lord!

Are you sure, Nick? BBC and Mail online say police say the opposite.

Sky News are now saying the same as BBC and the Mail - "Her death isn't suspicious and her case will now be passed to a coroner who will determine the cause of death"

By way of something different, they played this on RTE Lyric FM today. Spine-tingling stuff. She was truly special, and beautiful in so many ways. RIP.

Afraid my iPad cannot pick this up. Can you put a title on the link and I might be able to search for it on the YouTube app. Listened to a lot of Cranberries stuff yesterday. This has really affected me. Ta

There's an extra http in the link probably causing the problem, if you have trouble finding it. Good call, Stephen.
