I was really lucky with my 330. Got it for about half the new price on EBay. The guy was local as well, so I picked it up.

It is a really nice guitar and I am really pleased with it.

I guess there may be a lot to be said for just haunting eBay until the day you strike lucky.

Jules

what made it really lucky was the fact that the lead bidder dropped out after the close, so I was offered it on a second chance. I had intended putting in a higher bid, but forgot at the deadline.

I'm thrilled to learn its not all economic doom and gloom out there in the real world...a FB friend has recently spent £6k on a Hi-Fi amp too  Shocked

£6K - and there's a shedload of perfectly good (but 20-40 years old) Quad gear on Ebay.

I'm selling this behringer Strat copy. It's not much but it plays well. Might be a good starter guitar.

£25.00 ono

From a friends fb page (he's emigrating).  I have no idea whether or not it's good value, so don't shoot the messenger.

If anyone's interested, IM me your phone number and I'll pass it on to him.

Are there any more options out there on the internet for tracking down a particular secondhand guitar you're after, other than eBay?

When attempting to search elsewhere, all I seem to be able to find are links to yet more internet search pages that direct you to eBay listings.  It appears to be an almost total monopoly.   Sad

It might be worth trying the shops direct. Both nevada and PJ walker in this area hold stocks of second hand instruments, and list them on their web site.

Its a hit and miss affair so far as I have found as searching sites like Gumtree and Friday Ad depend on the wit and wisdom of the person selling in describing the item in a consistent manner as much as the quality of the site's data sorting capability. Which is probably why E-Bay has the apparent monopoly...... Leaving the only option to trawl regularly in the vain hope of finding what you are after, or to post Wanted messages everywhere (not the best way to secure the best price though).

Thanks.  I'd stumbled across Friday Ads, but not Gumtree.

MrS, who is into buying guitars, advises joining guitar forums who have 'for sale and wanted' threads. There are some that are general such as http://www.guitars.co.uk/forum/and some type/make specific such as http://www.strat-talk.com/forum/guitars-sale-trade-wanted/

Hope this helps.

I'm trying to find a copy of a 1999 film "Captain Jack" starring Bob Hoskins, at a sensible price.
It's clearly a bit rare.
Amazon are listing used copies at £24.99, new at an incredible £49

If anyone has an unwanted DVD or VHS I'll gladly swap it for a crisp £10 note (or a couple of beers at the Cropredy bar)
