I have been helping out at the RSPCA charity shop in Whittlesey, we have had an instrument donated and have been trying to investigate, at first I thought it was a Banjo Ukulele but after googling it found out it is a Banjo Mandolin as has eight strings, no makers name, it is about eight inches wide and 21 inches long.

Lovely dark wood back and a lighter wood on the neck, it looks in good condition to me but I know nothing about these things.

The lady who is the manager took it to the guitar shop round the corner and he has told her to put it for sale at £40.  Just putting info here in case anyone is interested in it.

I'm looking for something like this, but sadly it seems Tascam don't support Linux either. If you have any suggestions for a similar product, please could you let me know?

I have decided I want to buy a Rickenbacker guitar.  However a brand new one is out of my reach.  If anyone has a secondhand one for sale, knows of someone selling one, or has any other leads for my getting hold of a Rick, then please let me know.  I have not yet decided if I want a 6 or a 12 string, so am presently considering both.

Thanks.

Well, the only advantage of second hand is you don't have to suffer the 12-24 month waiting list.

As for prices, second hand they appear to hug pretty tightly to the new prices with little depreciation.

So, good luck with that.

the lad was after a rickenbacker bass and as neil sez they dont depreciate, because they are only made in the states, they use cellulose (or summat) and its use is limited in the usa so they are restricted in the number of guitars they can produce, hence the prices are high and stay high

Jules - ebay have a really good selection at the moment, prices seem to be from a grand up. Have you contemplated importing one from the States? The deal would be better and even with duty would come in under what the UK stores retail them at, either new or secondhand.

I was really lucky with my 330. Got it for about half the new price on EBay. The guy was local as well, so I picked it up.

It is a really nice guitar and I am really pleased with it.

I guess there may be a lot to be said for just haunting eBay until the day you strike lucky.

I'm thrilled to learn its not all economic doom and gloom out there in the real world...a FB friend has recently spent £6k on a Hi-Fi amp too  Shocked

But I'm not bitter...  Grin

Hope you find a good un at a good price, Jules.
