If anyone's got the story behind this rather intimate-looking gig, I'd love to read it. I'd imagine that's a one-off lyrical interpretation too? Yes. I think it was a TV show performance - a promotion for the 1982 Cropredy. Jules It's the back lawn at the much-missed Pebble Mill. Happy days!

This one's new to me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UojEGdN7bY&feature=related"this is rare excerpt from FC appearance on "disappeared" UK TV-show "Disco 2" (04.04.1970), which was shown later (10.01.1971) in another UK TV programme "Anatomy Of Pop" (with addition Swarbrick interview), footage taken from raw workprint copy"

Fairport at Glastonbury(?) 1971 doing Dirty Linen. Lots of dancing and Peggy is on fire for his bass solo, so much so that Swarb decides to have a quick break, watch carefully at 1:30, naughty naughty!
My brain might be muddled, but at my first Fairport gig (Glastonbury 1984), I seem to remember Swarb had a very long such break (for most of Sloth, if I recall).

Loads of clips, all of them Who Knows Where The Time Goes?, but I wonder whether I have unearthed any other Talkawhile subscribers have missed. Probably not. As mentioned on my Swarb thread, this sort of winds up my Song of the Day series at Salut! Live - http://www.salutlive.com/2011/08/song-of-the-day-fairport-convention-now-be-thankful-.html - and it is part tribute to Sandy and the band/part apology to the man to whom I once promised, at his request, to make a cassette - yes cassette, it's a long-unkept promise - of all the versions I had of what was his favourite song. I have just spotted that at least one of the chosen clips is no longer viewable at YouTube so a bit of housekeeping is called for. Other thing that intrigued me. The clip I lead with, from Unhalfbricking I believe, has had 710,179 views - ie up 246 from the 709,933 I noted when taking the code yesterday - has had 18 "dislikes". On the off chance that others have ploughed through the comments, was this just a quarrel with the chosen version or did some specify active dislike?

Thanks for your Song of the Day series which I really enjoyed.
Out of interest, does it makes any difference to you whether we read your comments via your site or the automated email?

Katy's mum: I may have misunderstood your question. I thought you meant comments posted at my site but, re-reading your message, see that you may mean that you can actually see my site postings without going near the site. If so, it still does not make a huge difference to what are quite small numbers anyway, and I can see from the Stats that a few people do follow the links here and visit the site. Each to his or her own!

Yes, whenever you write on your site, I receive an email containing the full article. I wondered if by opening the email this counted as a hit on your site or whether I had to actually go to the site for that to happen. It seems it is the latter. In future I shall make a point of reading from the site.

The Youtube clip of "Nothing More" appears to come from the four-song performance recorded for Beat Club in 1970. Gypsy Davey and Too Much of Nothing come from the same performance. I can't remember the fourth song. There is discussion below about the abortive attempt to release the entire set on DVD in the "Lost Performances" series. Per the discussion, the whole thing was scrapped because no one bothered to license the rights before announcing the release. Given the wild west ethic of the Youtube generation, I am not at all surprised this surfaced just as the official release was cancelled.
