There's a spirit of fine vintage acoustic music in this thread at the moment. I'm playing a lot of Bert Jansch back catalogue at the moment. Surprising how many live recordings of Bert I've accumulated- one of them turned out to be in 2 versions, single and double CD. A 2006 gig in Sheffield.

Listening to… Those bands in the Cropredy lineup that I’ve not heard of. I do this every year as I like to know a bit about all the bands, and I enjoy them more live if I’m familiar with their music. So far I’m really enjoying Barbara, formed by Brighton-based brothers Henry and John Tydeman. They’re a bit quirky: visually like Sparks, musically like I don’t know who! Is it pop? I shall be in the mosh for them anyway  I might see some of you there. |

I have a few Magna Carta albums (picked up a 2CD compilation a few years back that contained four albums), but I have never quite warmed to them. Al Stewart, on the other hand, is a lifelong (well, for over 40 years anyway) favourite of mine. |

What's the betting the album will hit number one. The last one made number 6 and the Boygenius number one. I saw her with Conor in Better Oblivion, fantastic. Try watching the Boygenius set from Pukkelpop, one of the best live sets ever, although the last song, while stunning, is NFFW. |

It was the - unsuccessful - Lori, Don't Go Right Now single that got me interested and its parent album, Russians & Americans, that made me a fan. Not the most obvious entry point but I still love that album. |

That was the first album of Al's I bought when it came out, although a friend at school had already introduced me to some of the classic albums - Past, Present and Future, Modern Times and and Orange, which led me into my addiction.

Not sure about the root domain name though - how would you see it? |
