The new Macca. It's a really strong album with an absolutely great sound, although I am (hi-res) streaming, rather than putting this on to play Is that an LP? It's a cassette!

Agreed, a really lovely album. The duet with Ringo is a joyous thing, I couldn’t stop smiling.

I'm on my 2nd listen to the new Macca album. Streaming, but considering buying a copy, it's that good.
It's as if he's channelling the sound of his "power-pop" successors e.g. Wondermints and Jellyfish.
Put it this way, he's released far worse, and it's heartening that he's making music that exceeds expectations.

As I've said elsewhere, Macca's voice is obviously very different now, he's lost a lot of the bottom end and the production has been deliberately engineered to leave the problem areas on the record.
For me, the strongest vocal track is with Ringo, their singing is joyful.
It is a good album.

I don't understand this sentence. Jules When Macca was at Glastonbury, a lot of work was done overnight so that the version on iPlayer had a much stronger voice than he had had live. On this album, voice tremors etc have been left in, presumably deliberately. I hope that clarifies my original sentence.

Any evidence to support this statement, Andy?

I watched him live and downloaded the iPlayer version a couple of days later.
The vocals had been spruced up, to my eats. [edit: EARS, dammit]
Not evidence as such.
If you disagree, fine. I don't have the energy today for any arguments.

Haha. Yessir. Interesting that he's not attempting to hide it. Or maybe it's now just not possible. Jules

I promise not to laugh at Andy's typo, but can confirm that the initial raw mix was far less kind than the remastered version used for posterity. Jules

Unlike my sister, I have only seen any of the Beatles on rare occasions.
Last time I saw Macca on tour was in the USA on October 7 2002 at the Entertainment and Sports Arena, Raleigh, NC,
The show was brilliant, he was in full voice and it was a treat to see and hear him. He was a mere 60 years old at the time.
He was a great artist then and still is.

I've been getting videos of classical music guitarists on Instagram recently, all of them female for some reason. The latest is a Polish lass called Kasia Smolarek whose latest album Home Sessions I've downloaded from Bandcamp. It includes Erik Satie's Gnossienne No. 1.
