Cheesy

(the  Cheesy relates to Jules's comment not David's bollox, I hasten to add, although I'm sure there's nothing wrong with them, but I'm not in a position to comment. I'll shut up)

So after Renaissance and Gryphon in recent weeks I can now cross Fotheringay off the Great Gig Bucket List. Arrived at the Swan & Royal and found myself stood at the bar next to PJ Wright, so tried (and succeeded) to buy a Trad ARR album off him and found out that PJ is a Philip John just like me! I now have an album signed to PJ from Philip!!! Got my Fotheringay box signed by the survivors and found a spot with a great view of the band (except Kathryn hidden behind a pillar).

I'll not spoil the setlist, but suffice to say it was wonderful with 7 off the first album, six off the second, a Sandy solo track and a predictable cover for the encore. Sally Barker really nailed Sandy, especially on opener Nothing More wher the prog-daughter and myself just looked at each and went WOW (with a tear in my eye it must be said), whilst Kathryn sang beautifully and their harmony vocals were spot on. PJ doesn't do a bad Trevor either!! PJ swapped between electric and acoustic, with a couple of ventures off to his pedal steel (the knitting machine as Kathryn called it), whilst Sally stuck to acoustic guitar and Kathryn to keyboards and (allegedly because I couldn't see her) flute. Nice full sound, remarkably good in the conditions. Honarary Clitheronian Mr. Donahue was as superb as ever whilst Pat and Gerry (almost sat in the fireplace) nailed things wonderfully.

I had my doubts about this reunion, but not anymore!!!

A great night with probably 50 or so people there, and the band should be well warmed up for tonight and subsequent dates.

Philip

Fab review, I wouldn't take a setlist to be a 'spoiler'!

Seeing them tonight in Kendal.

He came to see the show. Roll Eyes

Set list, click if you dare!

Vocals evenly split between Kath, Sally & PJ

It's *very* good, I'm looking forward to a second helping tonight!

Cropredy next year is extremely likely

It says he appeared onstage Chris...hence the question.

Cropredy?  Surely not...it's a bit folk-rock for that festival isn't it?
