I enjoyed Musafir, the Rahjastan gypsy band a few years back.

They'd be even better now with the big screen so their walking-on-broken-glass and things could be seen by more people.

I'd like to see more World music acts, apart from the reggae/ska stuff we've had.
Nowt wrong with it, but a bit of African music is just as good for getting the dancing going.
Ladysmith Black Mambazo are great for feelgood summer afternoon vibes.

Just been on recent gigs expounding virtues of the Angie Palmer Band, she's on at the Brasenose on Sat 9th Oct.

We were chatting after the gig and she was saying they'd love to do it. She knows the festival and the village, I reckon they'd be just the job. All very nice people as well, would fit in perfectly. And they don't half rock when they get going!

Guitarist Steve (Billy) Buckley gets special mention!

I saw them supporting Muse at Wembley stadium. They were really good.

Having seen them last night I would say The Jim Moray Band. Really energised, loud and driving folk-rock. He's a great singer, uses the electronics well, and the band are terrific. The drummer Dave Burbidge lifts the pieces very much in the style of Dave Mattacks, and the other two - Saul Rose and James Delarre are great musicians.

I know Jim isn't to everyone's taste on here, but as a live act they are obvious Cropredy candidates. At times I was hearing vintage folk rock - the match of anything from the 1970s.

Bill Kirchen. Used to be the demon guitarist with Commander Cody & his Lost Planet Airmen. He seems to do little gigs all over the place in the States, Don't know if he'd consider coming over here.

He'd do OK at Croppers as he has a great sense of humour and can't half spank the plank. Anybody who can shoehorn Iggy Pop, John Philip Sousa & Freddie King into one song has my vote...

and Folsom Prison Pinball:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNylJ4SGzDE&feature=related

(Note unbelievable state of Telecaster on second clip)

Jerry Donahue would love to be on stage with him!

Actually I MUST put another link up where Bill Kirchen's trading solos with Doug Yeomans on "Sleepwalk". Hank Marvin? - rank amateur!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31ka0AaxkXs&feature=related

Appears to be in a school hall or a bar......

Actually his website says he MAY be over here in Nov., I know he did Cambridge and Glastonbury with Nick Lowe about 15 years ago.

I strongly agree and think this a serious shout for Cropredy. now how do you get Mr Pegg interested!!
I tried several times to get him to book 'Something Nasty in the Woodshed' he even went to see them , unfortunately in an inappropriate setting but  he seemed to end up booking the Tindalls who were supporting!

Sharon Shannon. I saw her years ago in the Isle of Man, and though Irish folk is not usually my thing, my jaw (and my wife's) hit the floor. It was one of the most amazing and thoroughly musical performances I have ever seen. See her here, and be stunned by those added beats towards the end:

Agreed. She's brilliant. John Peel said about a Glastonbury many years ago that the best thing he saw that year was an impromptu session by Sharon round the back of some caravan.

ed. Except he phrased it rather better than that.
