Long ago I promised a colleague of my wife that I'd make a cassette of versions of Who Knows Where The Time Goes? for her husband, it being his favourite song Never got round to it and no longer have any cassettes, but have just done the next best thing and trawled YouTube. No one beats Sandy, of course, and some were frankly too ghastly to reproduce but it was an interesting exercise. I have posted the results at http://salutlive.com in case anyone is interested

Not youtube, but worth posting - a Google video search for Fairport brought up two gems from 1982. One is of the Nine line up doing Polly on the Shore and Hexhamshire Lass at Croppers, and a clip of Matty from the same year (Nice shirt Simon!). I can't post the links from the original site, as some of the adverts are a little *ahem* dodgy. Click the link and have a look down the left hand panel and they should be there.

Great find!
Rather embarassing to see what looks like a rather worse-for-wear Linda T swanning around on stage during Matty, but some fine playing. I think Simon was hoping that Rod, Jane and Freddy would take on an extra member!

This was put on Youtube a few months ago by a friend of mine. It's a tribute to my brother, Dave, who died last year following a brain tumour. He was a cricketer and a big Fairport fan. The 40th Anniversary Cropredy was his last gig - where we all sang this song with plenty of feeling.

There are far worse things than beautiful drunk women swanning around. Long may they swan.

Percy's been doing 'Matty Groves' with AK, so not that stupid... You can understand from the intro why they think it might be Scarborough Fair...never believe a word Percy says on stage! Nice clip - thanks.

Percy's been doing 'Matty Groves' with AK, so not that stupid... I didn't really mean it like that. It was just kinda annoying I suppose. Seemed to me like they weren't really appreciating that they were seeing Robert Plant, and just wanted to hear Matty. Anyways, doesn't really matter.

The 68 one is really distorted. If I didn't know better, I would have said that wasn't Sandy and Ian singing.

Yes, it’s pretty rough. In their biography of Ashley, Hinton and Wall spend a page talking about this session, which they say was recorded for Dutch radio. I can only assume they must have heard a much better tape than this. If it was radio, I suppose it’s too much to hope that the master survives..?
