Please use this thread to discuss the awards in general, the voting system and so on.

Tra, La, La, Laaaaaaaaa

NOMINATIONS UP, POLLS OPEN, GET VOTING

The winners of the Talkawhile nominations have been added to the polls.

The Polls are now open and will close on 1st February.

You can have 2 votes in each category.

The winners of the 2006 Hancocks will be announced after the voting closes.

Discussion is more than welcome, generally here and for specific nominees in the appropriate category threads, but posts that say little beyond 'Vote for X' will be deleted.

We want reasons. Be eloquent. Be persuasive. Lobby for your favourites. Turn others on to them.

Remember who the awards are named after - argue like a Ces, make us laugh, make us cry, be passionate, to make your favourite the winner.

Go forth and lobby...... Smiley Smiley Smiley

Mods/Referees - just thought you ought to know...  When I cast my vote for Best Group, it showed the results so far.  As none of the other categories did this I assume you (quite rightly) don't want this to happen.

Sorry if anyone was watching the progress of their favourite band there...

Thanks for that. It's been fixed.  Grin

All I can say is that a lot of the categories are like best band, where two entries are very close together.

Which probably means I've voted for the one in third place in most of them as well then.  Roll Eyes

The person who was organising them has completely disappeared and we've had to start from scratch, again.
This time it will happen. The 2006 awards will be ready in the next week and posted out to those doing the presenting. Then I'll think what to do about the 2005's.

Last chance to comment.

Here is an example of the certificate. It will be printed on pale gold parchment like paper and mounted in the frame. The final version is 1.75" x 2.25".
The black border isn't visible once mounted.

We got an on-air thanks from Mark Radcliffe and Eliza Carthy, last night on Radio 2  Grin
It nice to know that they are enthusiastic to receive their awards.

I think we'll have to keep our eyes open for Eliza gigs.

Wow, that was close.

What a shame, I would have been the first to volunteer to present the award to Oysterband at their own festival - and I would have fought very hard!

Congratulations to Bellowhead though, well deserved.

Fight?

Fight?!!!

You should know that nobody - nobody! - would ever dare try to take that honour away from our Landlady, Sandy!

She plans to award each member personally  Smiley

Sod it, I was sorted to give Show of Hands their 2005 Hancock   Cry Wink

Ah who cares, all the best to the 2006 winners (sniff) and to those taking pics (probably that Chris Bates) , awarding trophies (not me  Angry) or just attending the presentations (hope I can but even if not doesn't that sound grand  Shocked)

At the end of the day Ces would be proud and thats the point. I'll be looking out to see if I can see one awarded in person.

thanks again to all for arranging this

We are still looking for people to help with the presentations!

Please volunteer to present a trophy! Please come and take pictures!

These awards are for Talkawhile and from Talkawhile so please look at the Awards thread and see how you can get involved.

Cheers
