Renaissance  : Live at Carnegie Hall  (HTD 2LP reissue,  2015).

Love this, though it only gets the occasional play.   I think i could safely say   if someone doesn't like this, Renaissance  isn't for them.  The group at the top of their game, with a full orchestra behind them.  Magical.

Last night, I enjoyed a very nostalgic evening with the Allman Betts Band at ACL Live. This is Devon Allman and Duane Betts, who look, play, and sing very much like their fathers. They have organized an annual celebration of the Allman Brothers Band, bringing along a parade of supporting artists (this time including the legendary Jimmy Hall, Amanda Shires, and Austin's own Eric Johnson).

I closed my eyes and imagined I was at a genuine Allman Brothers show. It was a wonderful experience, and although "tribute" bands are not my thing, this one has an incredible pedigree and chops to back it up.

Simon's shirt and Peggy's bass more than adequately dating this performance... Grin

God I loathe those basses.

Gil Brenton - the new album from The Magpie Arc, who are now without Martin Simpson. Proper bit of folk/rock, which reminds me rather of False Lights.

I could look this up but will ask you instead - does Martin play on this?  If not, who plays the geetar?

No, Martin has left the band.  Findlay Napier and Tom Wright play guitar (some proper crunching electric) on the album. They have also recruited Sam Carter for live gigs, but he isn't on the album.

The past is a different country.  Grin

I had not seen this previously, with Simon giving it the full lead vocalist, a pre-beret RT and a full head of hair on that fiddle player… https://youtu.be/hitNi1jp7lo

Blue Tapestry Live CD (with a full set of autographs on the inner insert) - 50p charity shop find.

A true bargain! Smiley

To be honest, I find myself enjoying the live performances on this CD more than the original recordings! Smiley

Ha!  Nice.

Having seen Blue Tapestry twice (including their storming set at Cropredy 2003 which Procol Harum had a job following), I'd loved to have seen them again - the loss of Maart & Pete Zorn alas makes this impossible...
