I thoroughly enjoyed myself this year. I saw lots of great music - Turin Brakes, Spookies, Hayseed Dixie, Barbara, Le Vent du Nord, Banter, Celtic Social Club & Danny Bradley in particular.  Gutted to have missed Rob Jones & the Restless Dream, my bad planning!
Yes it was hot but it’s preferable to rain any day in my book when you’re camping and sat in a field.
Food was ok but pricey (but isn’t everything these days…?)
Stalls ok but nothing within my meagre budget.
The AF beer was ok, a bit hoppy. I took cans of Thatchers Zero which I chilled in the fridge. They just stayed cool enough in the 20 minute walk from the van to getting sat down. Nothing worse than warm beer/cider!
Disappointed to be on field 7b (Mr Bridgwit has trouble walking these days) but it was ok in the end, and as my group pointed out a few times over the weekend - we were just glad to be there, and we could hear the excellent Skalectrics from the van Friday evening  Grin
For various reasons we went back to the van when FC were on, we were too far away to hear them so I’ve been listening to their set on Radio Oxford.
I really hope next year isn’t the last one but I have a suspicion it could be. 6500 punters might work out financially for the festival, but you could see all the food traders were quiet, and there wasn’t as much atmosphere especially during the singalong parts. I suspect even the band haven’t decided yet.
Mr B is being made redundant at the end of the year so he’s retiring, so maybe time to check out some different festivals as we’ve only ever been to Cropredy  Roll Eyes

Wow! Brilliant.
Adam was a superb and very articulate toastmaster and it was wonderful to be with so many old friends.

I have today donated £435 to Teenage Cancer Trust which also qualifies for an additional £108.75 gift aid, bringing the total to £543,75.

Again, congratulations and my thanks to all.

One other positive I forgot to mention - thought the between set playlists were great this year. Lots of variety and wonderful to hear Say It Ain’t So Joe again.

The heat really affected enjoyment on the Thursday and Friday.…We waited til later Friday and  turned up during Celtic Social Club. Williamscot Rd car park was the emptiest we had ever seen it on those days, so I assume others did the same. The field seemed to have more space than last year, even with the same ticket nos, I assume for the same reason.

Highlights for me, from what we heard of the whole weekend, were:
Marshall Gilmour Webbs…lovely to behold, beautiful to hear. They captivated the field, as far as could be seen from where we were. (I am sure David Gilmour would not want to steal the limelight).
Spooky Men’s Chorale
Barbara ( just fun and light for that slot, but possibly over-hyped in the programme? IMO).
Fairport…

We were both perplexed by whatever The Haar tried to do to some staples, which could have been great field singalongs.
Hayseed Dixie were okay, but once you know their M.O.  it’s never the same watching/hearing them as the first time.

I actually found Matt Bragg quite amusing and felt he shouldered any ‘muck-ups’ quite cleverly, from the bits I heard.

Williamscot Road gate  was closed off, which we hadn't realised til leaving on Friday, meaning a v. long walk to the car park that night.  I have never before seen an exodus during RT’s set, like this year…I felt way guilty, as I have always loved his music and was down at the front in years past, but we decided to leave early. We just weren’t ‘feeling it’ probably due to the weather.

The Fairport finale, I personally enjoyed…I thought Simon sounded great. It was nice having the variety of guests again.

Never forget that the thieves are not normal Cropredy fans. I was quite happy to leave my bag by my chair of they want my bottle and a copy of Mojo they are welcome. The value of a van makes it worthwhile buying a wristband to avoid security. As this was a sellout it must have been preplanned. Beware of strangers showing interest. I have a new van so invested in a decent security device, sad but necessary
They only needed a Camping Pass. Since I always buy that with my tickets, I've never looked too closely as to whether that's possible. Logic would dictate that it is, to allow for the seemingly many people  that forget to buy one with their tix.

Thanks for the comprehensive review, Andy.
Although I retired from outdoor festivals pre COVID, I still enjoy reading the reviews.
