There's a plethora of Super Deluxe editions of old albums by Yes, The Police, Black Sabbath, Nirvana, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones etc etc
They usually consist of the original albums, outtakes, demos and sometimes a live album or two.
They all cost a bloody fortune.
Has anyone ever found these to be of great value or interest?
Enquiring minds want to know.

I usually buy these , but then question myself why , even the Sandy Denny ones or John Martyn's One World and Solid Air , it is pretty rare to find a demo that you play more often than the finished version
I have the Joy Division ones , still sealed , ditto Led Zeppelin 3 and Houses Of The Holy
After all the bonus material is soon available on You Tube - and the times you end up buying the original "as released" material - nobody seems to sell "disc 2 only" versions
The Beach Boys would be a case where I do go back to the demos, work in progress
, and I bet Jules does the same with The Who - so he's spot on in his post , depends in how high a regard you hold a particular album or artist

I don't think I've ever bought one.
I don't mind a reissue, if it's of good provenance, and might show some sonic improvement, and/or bonus material, but I don't need anything beyond ordinary CD and vinyl.
A box containing
Blu ray, surround sound cuddly toy etc etc. , is of no interest to me.

I have a very large collection of box sets which I am a bit obsessed with to be honest but rarely go for the type you mention. I prefer the career retrospective ones with loads of extra tracks. My favourites are the Sandy , Al Stewart and Ian Hunter ones. I have most of the Free Reed ones, and related.
