It’s the outdoor café next to the canal, opposite side of the road from the rowing club.  They do a great breakfast!

I might suggest that the absence of Fairport-as-backing-band and sundry surprise guests may have cut back the running time, judging by the warm ups posted on setlist.fm.

Ah, that one! We saw a lovely lady singing there last year, but I didn't catch her name.

Ewen (Goaty) gets most of Simon Nicol's column in the 2025 Cropredy Programme - three or so pages of his recollections of being onstage for Meet on the Ledge, with  positive comments about Colin and TalkAwhile.

This was a competition win for Goaty, wasn't it?  Would like to read the piece if anyone has it to hand...

More details later, but El Pony Piscador were probably the best act I’ve seen at Cropredy in 30+ years. Unbelievable! I’ve never seen the field standing up at that time of night!

Unfortunately, I've had to leave early today. My friend, Mike, who has been with me this year, has simply not been able to cope with all the walking. He has a recurring problem with his hip, but it hadn't been an issue for a while, so he was happy to accompany me to the festival. He last came with me in 2013. He said he had forgotten how much walking he'd be doing. He was mortified that he'd spoiled my weekend, but I told him I knew he had given it a go, but it hadn't worked. Anyway, I'll donate to teenage cancer trust, in lieu of actually being there tonight. (And I agree, El Pony Pisador were my find of the festival. Absolutely brilliant set last night!)

Thirded...their moshpit conga was up there with the Doonicans dinghy voyage. Brilliant to watch and listen to.
Sorry for your bad luck Mick.

Just seen pictures of Robert Plant at Cropredy playing Ramble On with the Deborah Bonham Band (Peggy on Mandolin, apparently)...

That's the guy from Saving Grace in the background isn't it?

That's a shame to hear Mick!...I hope you were both able to enjoy some of the time while you were there though... Smiley

I’m not really a joiner of groups , so few of you know me personally, I think I’ve done the toast once but this morning I just wanted to share.
I’ve read about this years fest and it having the  vibe of several years ago …..
I went with a group of 18 friends for over 20 yrs , always thought I would……
Then in 2011 , Gareth my best male mate , aged 59 and 7 days younger than me died .My wife (Sheena) , Gareth’s widow, Ce and I put his ashes on the field in 2012 during MOTL. it was never the same for Sheen and Ce after that they couldn’t go again. I tried a few yrs of going on my own , then another of our original group, John ( Fred,he’d worked in a quarry everyone called him Fred) took his own life in 2018, so I cut Cropredy off , several reasons , part of which I always said were about lineups but I think there were deeper reasons.
So last night I listened on line to Fairports and for first time in a long time let myself think of all,of us and John and Gareth and the past. The 2 day fests, the beers on the gravestones, outside Red Lion, the laughs, the gnomes, the village hall tables we took with us for tge gazebo outside our circle of tents/ vans , the wheelbarrow ( Fred and I used to wheelbarrow chairs etc for 18 people to the field to the tune of the dam busters )
They were good memories, I had a cry and wished I’d been there this yr.
Thanks for putting up with my ramble , I just had to write it down…..

I saw them supporting The Longest Johns, a year or two ago and they were excellent. Their albums are well worth a listen too.

Thanks for sharing that. Such great times. A friend of ours who used to come regularly died a few years ago, and most of our group haven't come since.

It's true that this year's festival felt like a bit of a throwback, like returning to the 90s. I think the attempt to 'right size' the Festival was a great success. If the team can keep things going on the same basis, I'd be very happy.
