I spoke with Sir Norm last week at the NFFF. It seems that several fields, including Field 4, were sold "from under us" as he put it, two years ago but that they had contracts for last year. This means that they are not available this year, whilst the future is dependent upon a whole set of negotiations with the new owners.
Since F4 is a flood plain, at least they can't buld on it!

Interesting. That opens up a whole new explanation for the reduced capacity this year too. If they didn't know if they would be able to use those fields for camping, it makes a lot of sense to reduce the general festival numbers, and presumably there are fixed thresholds for planning which limited them to 5000. Thanks Andy.

You reckon?! I can show you many developments built on flood plains, Andy...

Ok, how about "it would be stupid to build on land used as a flood plain by the river authority to ensure the town doesn't get flooded"?

It is worth mentioning for anyone planning to arrive by boat that the canal from Claydon to Banbury will be closed indefinitely from 21/7 due to lack of water , it is very low at the moment between slat mill and little bourbon lock but just about passable down the centre channel. Personally I’d be amazed if it is still open before the 21st judging by the water levels at the moment. Thought I’d mention it in case people need to amend their plans.

Oh dear, but it doesn’t surprise me. For many years we did the Thames Ring on various hired boats, from Lechlade to the top of the Thames, back down to Oxford, and up the Oxford canal to moor up at Cropredy for the festival. Haven’t done this for years now, but very sad for those that are going by boat 🥲

I'd love to know what percentage of the Cropredy tickets are changing hands at the moment - seems to be dozens every day online. Which kind of surprises me?

1.2 % based on a full capacity. There are sure to be people there on the day looking for tickets.

Why does that surprise you? There is usually a bit of this every year. On FB some people are obviously changing plans due to the canal situation or health issues, it can happen any year I guess.

Because there seems considerably more than a bit of it this year (imho) Yes and it seems to be about an 80% - 20% split between selling and wanting (certainly on the 3 or so related groups I subscribe to on FB).
