Luke Jackson (why stop inviting the winter support?).
For a superb headliner, Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul. Or even Nile Rodgers. The most popular at
Lytham festival was Bryan Adams who also went down well at Cornbury.
Always felt the envelope needs to be pushed a little with some soul, reggae or especially world music. Jimmy Cliff or Toots and the Maytals (if they are still going). On a separate thread, I suggested Bill Bailey as a different option. I know that comedy can be difficult to please everyone but the strong musical content of his act can help overcome that (I treasure his ragtime version of Stairway to Heaven!)

After the last brilliant Cropredy line up I would like to see a similar mix of genres.
Del Amitri and Elbow as Thursday & Friday headliners. (Assuming getting Faun over from Germany would prove too difficult).
Merry Hell
Amsterdam
Kapreka's Constant
Jamestown Brothers
either Peatbog Fairies or Dreadzone returning.
and Gaz Brookfield all on the bill.
with Becky Mills as the pre Fairport slot on Saturday.

Show of Hands with Track Dogs, as per the Shrewsbury Folk Festival performance.
This partnership takes them in a very different and more challenging, but entertaining direction.
Alas, I don't think this partnership will continue as Miranda is due to return soon, which is great. A real dichotomy for me.

Setlists for these shows were great (I'm agnostic on the Leo Sayer cover, mind)...but who was in the band...is it Zak and Pino and Simon or....? Answered my own question here...just found it...so Simon and his son Ben...and Doug Boyle (guitar); Geraint Watkins (keyboards); John Hogg (bass); Jody Linscott (percussion); Billy Nicholls (backing vocals); Steve ‘West’ Weston (harmonica), and Katie Jacoby (violin). Decent band, that! |
