Having been away from music for a few years, I've recently started playing again with Hampshire folk rockers Blacksmith doing a set of old Fairport and Steeleye favorites from the 69-75 era. We have 3 free gigs coming up in the run up to Christmas. Do come along if you're close by.

Sunday 28th November at 6.45 we're at The Fox, Peach Hill Lane, Crawley, Hampshire SO21 2PR
Saturday 11th December at 8.00 we're at the Plough Inn, Little London, Berkshire RG26 5EP
Thursday 16th December at 8.00 we're at The Platform Tavern, Town Quay, Southampton SO14 2NY

They're tbe folk-rock version of Anvil?

Joking apart, that sounds rather interesting...

Blacksmith are a 5 piece, Winchester based (except for me) band comprising of Kathy Ashford (guitar, vocals), Rick Monaghan (fiddle, mandolin, vocals), Graham Thomas (guitar, vocals, concertina), Gordon Munro (drums) and Andy Carter (bass, vocals) with occasional melodeon contributions from Derek the soundman. The reast of the band has been together about 4 years and recently recorded their debut album, 'A Genuine Forgery', at Woodworm. I replaced their previous bassist in the last couple of months. As William says, at the moment the band is more or less a Fairport/Steeleye covers band, but I hope going forward we'll be doing more of our own arrangements of traditional and self-penned material.

It is available now via the website at https://www.blacksmithband.co.uk/merchandise.html although they are £2 cheaper if you buy them at a gig

Unfortunately, due to Covid, tonight's gig at The Plough, Little London is off. As things stand, Thursday's gig at The Platform Tavern in Southampton is still on

Apologies, Andy. I managed to miss your post about the album release date, somehow. Many thanks for the info. I'll check out the website.
