Wondering if Simon’s Yamaha SLG200S guitar is to replace his Godin?

Worse? No I think it is fantastic and I’d happily wear a shirt like that. Maybe Fairport should do a fashion range?

Here you go!

Look like Simon for £65.00 (guitar not included - that will set you back another £567.00...!)  Cool

Guess the only way to find out if the guitar is a replacement is directly from Simon

Not seen one of these on stage since I last saw Baka Beyond. It gives the sound of a nylon string acoustic, without the feedback issues.

Personally, I prefer the Godin.

Sorry to bring the conversation back to Simon’s shirt but I’m now the proud possessor of a copy of that very same shirt so if you see me wearing it at next year’s Cropredy Festival please come and say hello   Grin Grin

Good news Chris - any chance of a photo of you wearing it...?

As for the guitar - I've been having a look at these and they're pretty interesting. There are 3 different models but basically there's two types - one which replicates the feel of a steel strung acoustic - narrower neck/fretboard and solid, 3-a-side headstock and the other replicates a nylon strung classical with a wider neck, flatter fretboard and a slotted, 3-a-side headstock. Both have onboard effects and a collapsible body. Simon's appears to be the former - steel strung acoustic SLG200S model as Pugwash pointed out. It's possibly a stand-in for his Godin being similar in concept but maybe Simon just liked it and wanted to add it to his collection (or thought it might be ideal for certain songs). Hopefully the man himself may enlighten us....are you out there Mr Nicol...??

There would be a chance if only I knew how to modify a ‘selfie’ on my iPad to a jpeg (?) then actually post it on here as a reply. Unfortunately my techie skills are not so hot
