Always knew I had it somewhere. I made it long ago, when I was a young man.. Today it showed up from a dusty box: Fairport, playing at the Vlaardingen Folkfestival, in the summer of 1976. Vlaardingen is near Rotterdam. They played the repertoire of the 'Bonny Bunch of Roses' album, which at that time had not been released yet. I remember being blown away by their version of the song from which the album took it's name. Swarb singing and Simon on dulcimer. The magnificent intro of Dave Pegg on bass.. It has remained the only time I saw FC play live. A year or two earlier they played at Lochem popfestival with the 'Rising for the Moon' line-up. Probably the last opportunity to see Sandy Denny perform in Holland. But I only learned they had been there years after... Had there been internet in those days..

Excellent photo. This is 'my' Fairport (although it was another 4 or 5 years until I saw them).

Agreed. During the Rising for the Moon sessions in 1975, DM fell out with Glyn Johns and was replaced by Bruce Rowland.

Agreed. During the Rising for the Moon sessions in 1975, DM fell out with Glyn Johns and was replaced by Bruce Rowland. And he stayed in the band until '85 (although, as I recall, DM did play some dates during those years, generally in the US).

In the post '79 - pre-Gladys' Leap years, it was a 50/50 chance of either on their sporadic UK dates & I'm not sure I didn't see one show with both, Greenwich? Wimbledon? Can't recall, maybe wishful thinking.

Don't wish to break your stats, but I saw 5 gig dates in '81, '82, '83 and '84 and never saw DM...only at Cropredy Bruce was definitely the drummer in those interregnum years, although DM had replaced him for the last US tour. I still think DM dates '79-'84 were the exception rather than the rule.

I saw Fairport at the Wimbledon Theatre in the early 1980s, and DM was the drummer!!
