Ralph will be on the BBC1 TV Breakfast Show tomorrow, Saturday 29 September. He is due to appear between 09.00 and 10.00 and is expecting to play a couple of songs. No prizes for guessing which Auntie will want!

I have compressed the 8 minutes of video to a reasonable size (76MB) and quality.
It wasn't transmitted at a very high bit rate, but if you want a better version then ask me.

It can be downloaded here. Please right click and 'save target as'.

Excellent, Colin  Smiley

I have it now - thank you very much.

Yes, 1.7 GB did sound like quite a bit ( no pun intended  Wink ),
but this is fine.

I can offer you some really interesting and rare Ralph stuff in return,
if you are interested?  Roll Eyes

Not a bad little interview I suppose, though it would have been much better if they'd let Ralph play something (anything!) in full. Great to see him relaxed, and obviously looking forward to the tour.

The new album sounds fascinating - looking forward very much to hearing him noodling! It's not available from the website yet, but maybe it will be on sale on the tour.

I so agree with you Naomi. In Ralph's usual style he is urging, via conversation, for his other work to be aired, especially his recent stuff. We know 'the song' made him a household name and hopefully people still search him out via it but there are so many good songs since.  Wink

Gosh Ralph has patience! I set the video for an hour as I had to go out (yes I still have one) and found Ralph was squeezed into the last few minutes! Why didn't they let him play a new song?

They didn't even really even highlight the tour much. Still looking forward to seeing him in Cambridge and in London soon.

ps, does anyone know how I post a photo - I have a great one of Ralph playing at  private party that we shared some years ago.

Yes, most of these journalists are "idiots" - always going for the safe story.
You really would think that journalists would dare to be more curious and
investigative - just once in a while - wouldn't you?

You can use the Insert Image feature here on TalkaWhile blog, Martin
( first button on the left, just above the smilies ) - or upload it on
TinyPic.com for instance ( there are many other photo sharing sites btw. )
and then use the next button to make the link to it clickable here.

If you choose the latter option, it's probably best to create an account
there, so that you can control the picture and delete it, if you feel like it.

Looking forward to that picture  Cool

Here is the picture of Ralph I mentioned.  I was invited to play at a private party a few years ago and Ralph was the special guest. We talked about guitars and he asked to see my National Guitar and he played a tune. We are not worthy!!!!

Excellent photo Martin, what a wonderful opportunity to chat to Ralph.  At least you're good enough to be invited to play in public.   Wink

Thanks - Yes I do unleash my music on the public. I opened for Martin Carthy last year at Hitchin Folk Club . He was joined by Chris Parkinson who has played with Ralph and he is another great guy. Strangely enough I also met another guitarist in Cornwall last week- Pete Berryman who has also played on Ralph's albums some years ago- Its a small world!! There are McTell links everywhere!

Regarding Ralph on TV- I really wish the'd repeat the Old Grey Whistle Test concert that Ralph did in the 70's . If anyone has a copy let us know!
