Heartbreaking news! I am glad I got to see her play live. Anyone yet to hear "Weave the mirror" (the album she made with the Fairports in 1991) is strongly recommended to have a listen to it. She was a wonderful musician and a major inspiration to so many of the musicians we grew to love. RIP!

So sad, such a wonderful musician, she made it look & sound so easy! I'm so glad I managed to include a photo of her in my book.

Very sad indeed - I remember seeing her support Fairport in I think 1991 doing stuff from the newly released Weave The Mirror.
Thoughts go to her family.
Best

Sorry to hear this news - and thoughts very much going to Swarb now too - this really hasn't been a good year so far in terms of musical comrades passing....

Oh that is sad I saw her play several times with Swarb, and at Cropredy, and loved listening to her. Who was it described her as 'looking like everyone's favourite grannie until she got her hands on a keyboard??' I was lucky enough to see her at a Fairport gig when I had 'The Gift' in my bag - I got it signed by her......and was chuffed to bits. My sympathies to her family and Swarb

I can remember the first time I saw her, having only heard her play before, and how odd it was to reconcile the mumsy figure with the music - until she got going, then it really didn't seem relevant anymore. How wonderful to have such a talent to inspire, how sad that she's gone. My thoughts to all who knew her well.

Condolences to family, friends and fans. Loved her playing on Swarb's albums; need to find more now!
Is there a formal obit anywhere yet?

I’ve heard from Roger, Katie and Bill that Beryl's funeral will take place on the Tuesday following Cropredy, August 17th, at Noon at All Saints Church, Wing, Bucks LU7 0NY. The family has said anyone is welcome to come and remember her, and that any floral tributes should be sent via S R Dillamore Ltd 16, Old Road Regent House LEIGHTON BUZZARD LU7 2RF Tel: 01525 301720 If however, you would prefer a charitable donation to Beryl's own elected one, then Médicins sans Frontières is where to go. I have spoken with them, and they say the best way is online, via http://www.justgiving.com/ where you can make a one-off, Gift-Aided donation and have no fear of being "charity-mugged" with junk mail if you opt out. You can also include a personal message in her memory! Don’t be put off by the appearance of the front page of justgiving’s website: a couple of clicks will take you through to the MSF single payment page. If I can do it, so can you!

And here's a link to a page set up in memory of Beryl... http://www.justgiving.com/talkawhileThanks to DavePreston for the loan of the words. The page could use a better picture, if anyone has one that might be appropriate. Cheers Nick

Thanks to you for cutting through the web-ness: much appreciated.

I'm at work, so will be unable to raise a glass to Beryl at noon today, but rest assured I shall do so this evening.
Bless you, Beryl, and thank you for your music.
