30 years ago today I saw Fairport play a concert in a big field in Hertfordshire.

There was also another long haired hippy band playing there as well that day whose name escapes me. If I remember correctly they were a bit good as well!

Now! Where have those 30 years gone?  Huh

Crikey!

I avoided Hertfordshire due to being at another event in a field in Oxfordshire.

Hell's teeth!

30 years since I imbibed many too many pints of Theakston's, tripped over a large metal tent peg & put a large "dent" in my shin, and saw my favourite band play for the very last time.  Farewell, farewell.  Or so we thought. Tears were shed, I'm not ashamed to say.

Of course, Fairport has gone on to become an institution (in the nicest possible way), as indeed has the Cropredy Festival.  So here's to the next 30 years! Chug-a-lug, chaps!!  Grin

Good grief - it was that long ago wasn't it? Thanks for reminding me - more than half a lifetime away.

My 'virtual' humming is not so good Colin. I remember the lyrics though!

'They choose the path where no one goes............Gercha'!

It's the one with the long keyboard solo by Chas Paul Jones.  Smiley

I remember seeing Chas and Dave supporting 10CC at the Capital Theatre in Cardiff in, I think, 1975. They were very good, not like the parody that they later became.

Wasn't Gertcha used in an advert?

Yes.
Some sort of beer if I remember correctly.
All in black & white with different characters singing the chorus.
