Hello Elvira and welcome, Jude here    If you look at the left hand side at the top of the topic and go to 1 (the first page of the topic) or click on this link if it's easier http://www.talkawhile.co.uk/yabbse/index.php?topic=28526.0 There you'll find the list of jolly questions to make you feel at home, click on the reply button (under the message on the right) and you should be able to answer the questions.. On the other hand I could just say hello! do come in, and have a cup of tea and tell us all what music you like     |

John Gardner from North London & Hertfordshire Read about the Cropredy ClashfinderWhat do you know of Fairport Convention and/or Cropredy if anything? -  a bit - started roundabout when I was one of the few who bought “Henry the Human Fly”What kind of music do you like? - Folk, Rock, Prog, Ambient, minimalism... most thingsLast festival - Folk by the Oak - earlier acts were brilliant. Not keen on Amy McDonald, disappointed with Eliza Carthy and the Wayward bandLast CD that you bought?  Would you recommend it? The Delicate Beyond - Steve Roach - wonderfully atmospheric
Tonight, Sir Robert, I am going to be my all time favourite singer Jeff Buckley and I will sing ' So Real’    |

You've been to Basingstoke, right?   A scary, scary place :-) We looked at houses there (very) briefly before deciding to live in Winchester. |

I prefer Crondall, but I am biased, as its where i was brought up.   Now firmly exiled in Aldershot, which makes Basingstoke seem to be the promised land.  Four or so years at Basingstoke Tech in the 70's, though this was before it became known as donought city. |

Hello, my name is Chris Jackson, and I live in Cotgrave which is just south of Nottingham.
I've been reading Talkawhile topics for some time now, usually to get info about Fairport and Cropredy in the run up to the festival and decided to join to maybe make a contribution now and again.

I've loved Fairport since the beginning, listening to their early stuff when Radio 1 first started, and hearing "Meet On The Ledge" when I bought the Island sampler "You Can All Join In". I was also an avid listener of John Peels Top Gear, which featured sessions by Fairport on a regular basis. I'd wanted to go to the Cropredy Festival for years, and personal reasons made it possible for me to go for the first time in 2004, plus, it was possible at the time that 2004 might have been the last one due to the problems Dave and Christine Pegg were having.

I have a wide taste in music. The sixties were a great time to be a teenager, with musical boundaries being pushed and rules being broken by people like The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix and of course Fairport Convention. I'm always on the lookout for something new, musically, which is why I love Cropredy because it's introduced me to so much great new music over the years.

The last gig we went to was at a pub south of Oxford called the Fleur De Lys, and we saw Merry Hell, Iota and Fairport. It was a great day, the music was fantastic and we met a few people that we usually see at Cropredy, great to have a little catch up.

The last CD I got was on the cover of Mojo magazine, called "Lets Shake Hands" and it's a Third Man Records anthology featuring among others, The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, The Dead Weather, who all include Jack White, Alabama Shakes, Bush Tetras and a few more. fifteen tracks in all and well worth the price of the mag.

And finally, I don't know a lot of songs all the way through but this one I do, so, tonight Sir Robert I am going to be....fanfare, fanfare,....Roger Daltrey and I will sing "Pinball Wizard", in my car at full volume ;-)
