Hi all,
Just watching solo items by Richard and Sandy back to back on BBC4's 'Folk at the BBC'.... and now it's 'Fog on the Tyne' from Lindisfarne! And now Paul Brady!! I'm holding out for some Steeleye too... What a treat!! Catch the repeat if you can!
And a repeat of the Martin Carthy concert featuring swarb later on....
Richard's version of 'Adieu, Adieu' is fab.

Where did that Sandy footage come from!!!! I want Donovan's metallic green and red guitar!!! Folk Britanica finally came alive when Pentangle came on - what were they described as? The bete noir of the traditionalists. Hurrah!

Yeah, they tempt us with little clips of that live daytime TV footage on various documentaries, but in the programme with full songs/no voiceover stuff we're given 'All Around My Hat' instead. Arrrggh!! They did the same in the Martin Carthy documentary where they showed a clip from a cracking Steeleye jigs set from the same archive....

Yes, but did you notice that as the credits were rolling and the voiceover said that Guenivere had gone to Brasil there was a quick shot of a grave with a wooden cross with "Tennyson" written on it

It was fiddle & mandolin so not quite that bad, but still pretty noticeable. Almost as daft was Rod Clements' somehow managing to play his bass guitar without using his hands during the fiddle bit in 'Fog On The Tyne'  And I'm still laughing at Si Cowe... I didn't catch the 'Genius' show - hopefully my mate has recorded it to DVD, along with all 16 hours of the folk season apparently - but it sounds like the Albion/morris clip is from the excellent 1980 'Lively Arts' Albion Band documentary. |

Where did that Sandy footage come from!!!! Seems that this suggestion is the most agrred on, according to various email lists.... I presume that this is from the 'Ten In One' video set recorded in 1971. It
was reshown at the launch party for Clinton Heylin's biography of Sandy in
Banbury 2000, and somehow leaked into the public domain. It was available on
the internet for some time, although the quality of my copy is less than
perfect. Also recorded were "Late November" and "North Star Grassman".RT was filmed in Shirley Kershaw's house in Cropredy last festival-time. Seems though they cut Simon's piece, as well as Jude's piece.... |

Hello Suzip, and welcome to you in Adelaide A few people, myself included, have been recording the series. There may be some who can forward copies on. (I'm still trying to figure out how to make copies of what we've recorded. We don't have a second recorder so would have to persuade the DVD to record via the PC or something.)
