Oh the subject of BW, has anyone heard any news of the Canoe Club ?

They were collecting signatures for a petition in 2010 because BW wanted to turf them out of the premises with a view to selling the land. We meant to ask the CC people last year, but as usual they were too busy feeding the masses so we didn't bother them.

Oh dear. Potentially no Red Lion and no Canoe Club  Sad

Any news on the artists yet? We know Bellowhead and Richard Thompson, but anyone know of any more?

Haven't we usually had a few announcements by now or am I just being impatient?  Roll Eyes

No Red Lion and Canoe Club, we'd starve ! We usually eat breakfast at one or the other, depending whether we are well enough for a pint with our meal or not.  Grin

I guess Digance might be on ?

Nothing particularly to get me along yet, but I'lll still be there - My first was 1992, so I reckon this is will be my 21st Cropredy.

Dennis Locorierre was great in 2003.  He wasn't actually on the Bill (but think he was in the Programme) but they shoehorned him in.  Lets put it this way - if he is confirmed, then already he isn't at the bottom of my "to see" list, but I would be dissapointed if he were forced to the top.

Indeed, and lower down we have been thanked:
Thank you to all the Farporters who have supported us by buying breakfasts, quizzes, tee-shirts, bricks and cakes. Your help has been fundamental in securing the future of the club. We now have new landlords: Banbury Charities have bought the clubhouse from British Waterways. This means that, whilst we still have to raise the money to buy the place, we no longer have to work against a horrifically short deadline.

According to the tour programme Joan Armatrading confirmed.

Chatted to Kieran Goss afterwards and he is playing the Thursday - assume Fairport will open and he will follow them as with Kat and Jamie last year

Now we appear to be talking about the actual line up again what about Big Country? I saw them on sky arts, filmed last year, and even though they have got the singer from the alarm they were great.
They would be a wow if booked in the sort of slot the Blockheads got last year

How about Joan Armatrading? I have always loved her music but never seen her live until recently and she was amazing! She knew how to work an audience and is an excellent guitarist. Also connected to Fairport through Gerry Conway (he played on her albums). Currently Spencer Cozens (ex John Martyn and Pentangle ) is in her band and very good he is to! As an added bonus it is suprising how many of her songs most people know so it would be good for a sing-a-long arms waving in the air style. (if you are into that sort of thing-which I am!)
 Cheesy Grin Cheesy

Go Joanie!

Don't you love it when a plan comes together!
