I believe you used to be in a duo with TalkAwhile's very own David Hughes (nice chap).

Any particuarly favourite/memorable recollections of those times?

I first met Yosser when I lived in Borstal (the village not the institution. It's in Medway. near France). I was in Bully Wee Band at the time and we formed an unspoken mutual appreciation club then when I moved to that London we were in the Mick Linnard & David Hughes band together for a while with Eddi Reader doing the singing. Later Dave and I were Rogers and Hammersmith. He also turned me on to Liquorice Rizlas before I found out that they all stick together if you breathe within twenty miles of them, then realised that smoking is stupid and smelly.

I love him dearly and I never mention that he looks a bit like Charles Hawtrey. He also supports the Red Peril which is only second to Leeds as a Manchester United supporter's Hate Team. But then all footy fans hate Leeds. Luckily we've been able to rescue at least two great players from them, Cantona and Smith.

I guess most of you don't give a damn about this, but hopefully some do. Hi Martin!

P.S. Had a good listen to the bass on Recognised, it certainly adds a lot to the mix - the whole lot sounds like something Chris Rea would do, but good

I'm not aware of him doing much session work. I must rectify that this year. I'm thinking of doing an acoustic album (but obviously with my trusty bass).

I remember DH saying Maart was "a great cook, a great linguist and an all together far too clever bastard".

And I seem to remember him (DH) going to a New Year's Eve fancy dress thrash at the Queen's Head. He was wearing a suit but not obviously "fancy dress". Someone asked what he had come as and he said "Charles Hawtrey. Couldn't be arsed to dress up."
