trophy guitars

Hi Maart - really enjoying reading all the Q & A's so far - tell me, do you have a big (whatever that means in wall space terms) collection of guitars - are you one for hanging on to old favourites 'just in case' or do you prefer to only have working dogs around the place?
Cheers
Shane

Hi Shane
I have about two dozen guitars of all types from a £60 Yamaha (1977 price) through a 1969 Goldtop Les Paul to a very expensive Stefan Sobell acoustic, all with different voices and they all get used. I also have four mandolins from 1919 to 198x, three or four bouzars, three basses including my "third arm", a Turkish baglama (the g is silent like the p in bath), an Ovation mandocello, about six keyboards, a load of out-of-date MIDI modules and Logic in the iBook which has all the Hammond organs, a Hohner Clavinet, samplers for days, Fender Rhodes and Wurlitzer pianos, vocoder and several synths in it. I also have in there a virtual Mellotron, Prophet 5, Moog Modular synth and the Garritan Personal Orchestra. I've usually got the required sound, but if someone wants a real string bass I have to hire one...

Crikey - is there room for any furniture?
Is there any instrument "out there" that you haven't got and would *really* like to own? No matter the price?
Thanks.

I think I'd like an old Gibson jazz guitar from 1957 (same vintage as me). I also covet Tim O'Brien's 1938(?) Martin 0018, and I've always loved Alan Hull's old Yamaha.
