Hi Maart

You lucky person!

I was interested to see that you are getting another Armstrong.  From the context, I assume it to be another fretless bass - is this the case?  If so, have you / Rob decided if it will be similar to your current one, or something different?

Will the current one be enjoying a well-earned retirement with occasional use on special occasions, or will it remain on active service?

I presume you will post a picture on your website when you take delivery.

Regards

Jon

Hi Jon! Happy New Year my old friend!

It's going to be another fretless. I haven't discussed with Rob yet how it will turn out. I guess it might be similar to the third arm, which will not be retired but I won't be dragging it out to pub gigs and folk clubs anymore. I'm starting to get very nervous about it being lost or damaged as we've been through so much of our lives together, made a lot of records together and travelled many miles together. I would be inconsolably heartbroken if anything happened to it. I intend to use it only for recording from when I get the new one. In spite of getting older it just gets better. I guess that the April Blue Tapestry tour will be its last tour.

Then again, I'm looking forward getting to know to the new member of the family and it will be interesting to see how long it takes till it gets a look in as far as recording is concerned.

After all that, it's probably going to be just as sublime a fundament but with a different character and I'll end up using both...

I intend to post a series of "in development" photos on my website as it ebings to take shape, but this will not be for several months yet.
