Hello Maart,

I think you did some work with or for Midge Ure recently ( well maybe a couple of years or so ago) - I wondered if you got involved in the recent Xmas Live Aid stuff in some capacity.

Happy New Year.

I was not involved with the recent (or first, come to that) Band Aid stuff. They needed people who would sell a lot of records Smiley

I've done a few things with Midge, notably playing in Belgrade a month before the war. I was the only one in the band who understood the Russian alphabet so I was able to sort out cashpoints which got me fairly popular for a minute.

We played in Vienna and Midge got a special award for the song Vienna after we'd just played the song Vienna. I really like Midge, he's a very big heart.

Thanks, Maart. I meant Band aid of course. I've got an unused Russian Scrabble game if you want one.

Tony Comer and I used to send secret notes at school in the Russian alphabet. He went on to work for the foreign office I think.

Quite a nice photo of you, Maart!  Can you tell us a little about that lovely instrument?

The instrument in the photo is a Crafter 12string. Midge introduced me to Crafter guitars and they're great. There's more about it on my website at www.maartinallcock.com
