Sir David;
And so how did you get involved with these reprobates - it's a long mighty way from Maldon to Banbury (please refrain from any Mott The Hoople references  Roll Eyes) after all.

Nick;
Same question (only without the Maldon bit).

All;
Fairport - friends, colleagues, beneficient overlords or absent landlords when it comes to all matters Talkawhile?

Colin;
Who would you like to have aboard who currently isn't?

Well, I remember the first time I met Hughes. It was at the merch stand at the Orchard Theatre Dartford in 1997(?). He asked me who I was and when I told him he said " My God you're Tony E, great to meet you". This being a reversal of the usual fan/musician interface that is along the lines of fan saying "My God, you're Robbie Williams/Rick Wakeman/Stanley Unwin etc" I was a bit ...confused. Confused enough to buy "50 Yards". Hurrah!

Involved with reprobates? Sounds like a step up to me! Always knew I'd end up with the right crowd.  Cool

Me? I'm just a punter. Joined the board just as it started, made some posts and to my surprise got a friendly response and didn't get my head chewed off. So I stayed. Colin noticed I had answered a couple of questions on technical music stuff and put me in charge of Active as a Local Moderator. After a month or so spent figuring out how the calendar worked next thing I know I'm an Administrator!

Main thing is, I'm a music fan and I'm really happy to find others who are as enthusiastic about music, gigs and festivals as I am. If I can help and encourage that interest in music then I'm happy.

Cheers

Nick

People, just like the rest of us.  Contributors as and when they feel the need, desire and entitled to have an opinion about the things said here and to express it just like everyone else.

I would hope that this is a forum that they feel that could visit and get honest feedback, both good and bad, but also forum that they could join in without feeling "smothered" by their musical status.  In other words, where thay can be honest, open and relaxed too, without "fans" simpering around them sycophantically - just be part of the community and not be "Fairport" if they don't want to be.  Just part of the crowd.

That's probably not expressed all that well, but I know what I mean!
