Angry Anderson of Aussie rockers Rose Tattoo. He'll also be remembered for starring in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome alongside Tina Turner.

I think he'll mainly be remembered for singing the song that Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan walked down the aisle to in Neighbours... RIP Angry

And for vocally supporting extreme right wing politics during his last couple of decades.

This seems to be a Groundhog Day subject about whether you should listen to someone's music if you're aware of their politics.

Me, I've only ever heard Rose Tattoo's first album from 1978. It's one of my favourite rock albums and I've just downloaded it from 7digital as I previously had it on cassette.

I don't really care about what Mr Anderson's politics were but he's dead now so what does it matter?

That's all very well as long as the income isn't funding dodgy activities.

Just seen via Kathryn Tickell's Instagram page that Bob Davenport has died. Source of many songs covered by many over the years, but in terms of this forum, he was the source of The Hexhamshire Lass. 94 years, so good innings as they say. Have a couple of songs on some compilations I will play in his honor today.

Conrad Lant, a.k.a Cronos from the death metal pioneers Venom. Among his influences, he quoted Lemmy, Gene Simmons and.... Ian Anderson!

The great Keith Christmas.  Had absolutely no idea he was ill (I was conversing with him and buying some rare tapes off him just a few weeks ago).  Apparently he's has renal unpleasantness for about 4 years....F***ing cancer....

My old Uni friend Doug, of the band Living The Poundshop Life, was a friend of his.  The only time I saw KC was with Doug, before he new KC, at The Van Dyke in Plymouth. I think it was the night before the famous police raid when Fairport were playng. KC had been a late replacement for John Martyn.

Shelagh McDonald's tribute to Keith Christmas (via Ian A Anderson - and the Royal Mail)

Shelagh McDonald isn't online but very much wanted to share a tribute to Keith Christmas who left us last week. So she typed it out and asked me if I could post it. It finally turned up today, three days from Lanark by Royal Mail first class! [Keith & Shelagh's 1970 debut albums, produced by the late Sandy Robertson, were very much intertwined]

===

Yesterday was a sad day for music, but an infinitely sadder one for me. The news of Keith's passing, though not entirely unexpected, nevertheless stretches one's credulity to the limit. How could a man with so much soul, vitality and inexhaustible creativity be taken from us – it seemed impossible.
For anyone fortunate enough to have come within Keith's orbit would not have failed to recognised his lust for life which could fill an entire auditorium, let alone an intimate folk venue. There was so much more to him than mere musical craftsmanship. There are superb guitarists aplenty, but none in my experience who could ignite their live acoustic performances with so much
fire and drama. Or, as I call it “The Keith Christmas Experience”, which rewrote the performance script for folk venues up and down the country.
The last time I saw Keith he had, months previously, undergone major heart surgery. I remember moaning to him about feeling my age, to which his immediate response was, “It's all in your head Shelagh, we're surrounded by energy and it's there for the taking if you've a mind for it”. That was way back in 2013.
I'll miss his irrepressible optimism, his wisdom, his ability to listen and advise without passing judgement, his immense generosity of spirit. I will miss my truest friend, Keith Christmas.
So, let's honour Keith's life's work. Let's listen with new hearts and new ears to his legacy bestowed on us. Let's savour his startlingly insightful lyrics, his virtuoso finger picking, hear him sending up or shaking his fist to the heavens when something triggers his ire, and finally drink in his beautiful love songs, the mature, creative fruitage of a consummate artist.
Meanwhile I send my deepest sympathies to his lovely wife Sian and family.

According to a couple of things I have seen on Facebook, Donal Lunny has left us.  Cry

Edit: Here's an article from The Irish Times:

Donal Lunny 😞
The mainstay of a huge amount of Irish folk music for the past 60 years after his work as a musician in bands like Planxty and moving hearts, as an accompanist with the likes of Christy Moore and a producer for umpteen artists and acts

Oh sh*t. He was frail last year or so, but still didn't expect it.
Although he was never the frontman, he was (IMHO) the most influential person in Irish trad/folk music since the 1960s

Bands like Planxty and Moving Hearts, as a companion to Christy Moore...]
And Sweeney's men, Emmet Spiceland, the Bothy Band, Mozaik, etc.
A classic memory from 1973...https://youtu.be/JyP407UnUWw?is=vN_DFDUtM4FePAUc - see his big grin after the switch at 2.35ish,

RIP
