However, my voice is OK - I am, though, younger than Messrs Simon & McCartney! David - I bought the BEAT album last year - they all sound and look fine to me. Vai's not trying to replicate Fripp, but he's darn good, IMO. |

Regarding BEAT, I thoroughly enjoyed it even though I’m unfamiliar with the music. Those guys blew me away, even though it was occasionally difficult to ascertain what the guitarists were doing (the music is so complex). Steve Vai grinned through the whole show, clearly soaking up the Crimson love coming from the audience.
Regarding the Pauls, I saw Macca and Simon both within the last year. Simon’s voice is holding up remarkably well, perhaps better now than a few years ago. He reconfigured his band to reduce the noise level on stage, which may be helping him sing better. McCartney’s voice is all over the place, and no one (including me) is bothered in the least while grooving to that songbook.
