Grrrrr.  Thankfully, I've just discovered that Pat Morgan of Datblygu pulled out yesterday of her support at tomorrow's Gwenno gig at Bedford Esquire (not sure about the rest of the tour).  As a result I don't have to drive for 7 hours and can get the money back on my hotel.

But if anybody fancies a dirt cheap ticket for Gwenno (she's playing two sets instead) drop me a line.

Ian McNabb tonight, Haircut 100 tomorrow and Sparko from Dr. Feelgood on Sunday.  Old school weekend.

Let me know how McNabb goes. Last time a friend saw him he spent half the time tuning his twelve-string and the other half getting the audience to sing the choruses.

I saw him on the 17th April at the West End Center Aldershot.  The name seemed familiar when i saw it in the Westie program but I didn't really know any thing about him or the band he had been in. There was some chat and some tuning, though neither seemed to be longer than other people i have seen at the same venue.  I had no expectations before hand, and enjoyed the evening.  Some of the songs did seem the same, mainly in the way the songs were sung/phrased. If he does come back to the Westie in the future i would most likely buy another ticket.

Not sure how long ago this was but generally he seems a lot less 'down in his cups' than he was a decade or so ago....

We were considering going to see Thomas Dolby at the Sub Rooms, Stroud, on Friday.

Frankly, £38.50 a head seems expensive for someone very popular 40 years ago.

I think we may take out our daughter and granddaughter for a slap-up meal instead.

We saw him last year, and he was great.  Plays very big venues in the US.  In the current market place, personally I think that's a below averagely priced ticket.

TBF £40 won’t get you much of a slap up meal these days either.

I'll be intrigued to know what you think, Paul.  To my ears there's one weak link in that chain, and try as I might I just can't quite get beyond it.

Art Garfunkel tour alert!

After years away, AG is touring in 2026, across the US and UK. Unfortunately, I have a conflict in June when he plays in my backyard (San Antonio). However, I may plot to see him in Chicago before thanksgiving, and maybe squeeze in a trip to the new Obama Presidential Library and a football game while I’m there!

Very badly from recent clips I've seen.  If you think Paul is struggling (which I really don't) then stay well away would be my advice.

Maddy Prior in a week or 2.

Can't pass up  this one as  it is half a minute from  my  door,  and i've always liked Maddy and Steeleye.  Apart from the band i last saw her 80s or 90s with Rick Kemp.

I don't think Macca is "struggling", I think his voice is exactly what you'd expect for a man of his age.
