Just back from seeing this doc at cinema. Very good indeed. As an evocation of that time (1972) and place (N.Y.C) in the Ono/Lennon's rollercoaster lives, I doubt it will be bettered. The entire Madison Square Gardens gig may well be available to view at some point but, yes, as noted in reviews, it was frustrating that the live performances were cut short by returns to narrative. However, Mother was shown in it's entirety and worth the price of admission alone. The restored concert sound was also excellent but (as in my experience in a Vue cinema for Becoming Led Zeppelin) this (Odeon) soundtrack was also ear-splittingly loud

I should clarify - the whole concert has been available for years, just not with cleaned up sound and 'extras'

I saw a Lennon Documentary  some years ago but  can't rrmember a lot about it.  Also saw a film , a drama,  about Mark Chapman.

Ironically, the showing i am going to is subtitled for the hard of hearing.   I don't have serious hearing problems but i do find dialogue etc in films increasingly  hard to follow.  This is more common with drama, where the actors are under- enunciating. Or am i getting like those half deaf oldies who used to say to me ' speak up  you're mumbling' ?!

I have to play with the setup of my hearing aids to hear lots of programmes and films.  
Fortunately I now have an app on my phone called BeMore that allows almost infinite variety in setup. (NHS hearing aids with Bluetooth, free app)

QI is one of the worst culprits and I usually end up using subtitles.

Just got out of the film and feel very positive  about it. The concert footage alone make bit worth seeing.  The whole  is very well  put together, and i have to say i felt  really moved at some points.

I am looking forward to seeing it this evening at the Phoenix Picture House in Oxford. Just looking at the website seating plan though, it appears not many tickets have been sold so far, which is a real shame...
Maybe more will turn up and buy a ticket at the box office, just like in the old days...
