Steve Goodman - perhaps the very epitome of under-rated, despite the Grammys and covers. I first sought him out since there seemed to be some terrific guitar playing on some of John Prine's records and it turned out to be Steve. A truly extraordinary life, lived as fully as he was able in the time given to him. https://youtu.be/GC4e0XjRW-Q?si=rYhuGGymhIJckARi

This reissued (digitally) Albions live album

https://talkingelephantrecords.bandcamp.com/album/albion-heart-on-tour

Great version of Jewel in the Crown.  Had no idea the Albions did that.

I haven't listened to that album for a while, so I'll have to put it on this evening.  It's not quite 'my' Albion Band (ie the first I saw) - that was the previous line-up with Ashley Reed instead of Julie Matthews (whatever happened to him?).

Rising For The Moon which I've downloaded from 7digital. It comes with a freebie of the Live at the LA Troubadour 1974 album. You also get a few demos plus an alternative version of Dawn and a live recording of White Dress.

New track from Tony Poole (Starry Eyed & Laughing, Bennett Poole Wilson etc etc)....Faith in Us.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRjlMe3wxEE

It sounds just like it should of course, and all fans of 12 string jangliness should jump on board but to my ears the lyrics sound, a la everything Neil Young has written this century, a little bit trite?  Discuss, or probably don't.

Richard and Linda' s albums

I always enjoy these  though  the  sound quality of the various vinyl editions i have varies rather. Sunmyvista sounds the best of the bunch and side 2 has the better songs  .  I don't think it's a fan favourite. 🙂

Or a band favourite...Richard hates it, doesn't he?

Quite possibly. I know he dislikes his own Small Town Romance (Live).

It sounds, erm...pleasant....(is that the worst possible 'praise' for a song?)

I've just finished listening to The Northstar Grassman and the Ravens.  I first heard 'Late November' on the Island sampler El Pea, 50 odd years ago. It steered me to this album, which is still my favourite of Sandy's. Lovely.

I just love that bit in 'North Star...' where she sings over herself. Gets me every time.

The Home Service - Live 1986. That version of Scarecrow is almost impossibly moving, especially at this time of year.

Happy memories of student days in Manc, four of us moved to a new kip in Whalley Range but most of the stuff including furniture we were waiting to be moved in. We managed a meal taking turns with one plate, then lay on the floor and listened to two albums twice over - North Star and Caravan's Grey and Pink. The two of them hold special memories to this day...

Marillion's Afraid of Sunlight, the 2019 remix of which comes with a live album recorded in 1995.

MrsB came in and said, "Oh you're listening to Genesis". I wouldn't have said Steve Hogarth sounds much like Phil C but I guess we all hear things slightly differently.

Less so, but instrumentally, Genesis were still an influence.

I like any Traffic album.  Only When the Eagle Flies falls a bit short, but still a good album.
