I like The Lamb in theory. It's Peter pushing Genesis out of their comfort zone. But in reality, I only like the actual songs. I could never stand very much of Tony Banks doing his thing. Carpet Crawlers though. Oof!

There are a couple of great tunes, but it's the product of Gabriel being distracted by his wife's difficult pregnancy and livinbg in London whilst the rest of the band were in Wales, awaiting his latest compositions and having to fill in the gaps. "Carpet Crawlers", "Counting Out Time", "Lilywhite Lilith" and "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" are all above average, but the rest is dross for the main.

IMHO, of course.

Just bought a reasonably priced copy of the first Genesis archive 4x cd box
Not sure about the live Lamb concert with the rerecorded vocals , bit like Sandy's Gold Dust recording although that was the guitar?

Lamb was one of the first Genesis albums I heard, and it put me off them for a long time!

Beverley : Where the Good Times Are  (Deram LP,.mono, Record Store  Day, 2018).

A pre- Martyn Beverley singing 60s pop, blues, rock , and very pleasant it is.  Some known people backing her.

Following on from my current reading of Ian A. Anderson's book, I am revisiting Tiger Moth's recorded output (I have the Mothballs plus compilation, and Ostracon which polishes up the few tracks which didn't make it onto  Mothballs plus).  I wish I'd seen them live - they must have been mighty!

The total recorded output (four albums) between 1970 and 1972 from Stone The Crows and very fine they are too.

Wish I'd got to see the original band live at the time with Alex Harvey's brother was on guitar.

Some Fish-era Marillion as I found re-issues of Fugazi and Clutching At Straws on 7digital. Fugazi  comes with a bonus live album recorded in Canada in 1984 and Clutching has an additional dozen tracks of rarities and demos.

Those reissues are really good. I've been picking the boxsets up.

And the remaining four of them are still together all these years later with their "new" singer. Great band. Not listened to them in ages but I've been getting occasional posts about Fish on FB and the odd video of Steve Rothery doing his solo stuff.

I thought their last album (An Hour Before It's Dark) was very good, as good as anything they've done post-Fish.

I'm going to have to get the 2018 remastered 4 cd set of Clutching at Straws as two of the discs are of a concert recorded at the Edinburgh Playhouse in Dec 87 - I was there, front stalls!

...a performance by The Dukes Of September from 2014.

Donald Fagen, Michael McDonald, Box Scaggs, Jon Herington, Freddie Washington and pals blowing the socks off anyone who cares to listen with classic Steely Dan songs and more.

Very smooth.

Traffic:  When the Eagle Flies  (Island LP reissue, 2021).

There isn't a Trafffic album i don't like . This one is rather uneven- moments of inspiration  and  some great grooves,  but muddy production on some tracks obscuring the vocals.  Enjoy it all the same.

Pink Floyd: Wish You Were Here   (EMI CD,  1995).

It's  WYWH 's  50th anniversary this year, so it gets multiple  reissues.

I'm pleased to  find this  early remaster still sounds pretty good.

Pentangle  :  Solomon's Seal  (Cherry Tree 2CD, 2025).

This is an improvement in the first CD release, but my feeling is the 2nd disc is unnecessary.

I was planning on getting this - can you expand on your thinking?

The second disc  comprises live r ecordings  from 1972.  I only got 3 tracks into it but it's bootleg/audience recording level audio. There are also 2 tracks from Christian the Lion.

The bonus material on disc one is very good- radio sessions and some interesting music written for a TV  documentary.

I'm pleased to have it, but i think one disc would have done. Or am i too fussy? Huh

From my library of tapes.

Highlights from Cambridge folk festival 2006.  Mike Harding talking to various people, plus music of course.
