I like The Lamb in theory. It's Peter pushing Genesis out of their comfort zone. But in reality, I only like the actual songs. I could never stand very much of Tony Banks doing his thing. Carpet Crawlers though. Oof!

There are a couple of great tunes, but it's the product of Gabriel being distracted by his wife's difficult pregnancy and livinbg in London whilst the rest of the band were in Wales, awaiting his latest compositions and having to fill in the gaps. "Carpet Crawlers", "Counting Out Time", "Lilywhite Lilith" and "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" are all above average, but the rest is dross for the main.

IMHO, of course.

Just bought a reasonably priced copy of the first Genesis archive 4x cd box
Not sure about the live Lamb concert with the rerecorded vocals , bit like Sandy's Gold Dust recording although that was the guitar?

Lamb was one of the first Genesis albums I heard, and it put me off them for a long time!

Beverley : Where the Good Times Are  (Deram LP,.mono, Record Store  Day, 2018).

A pre- Martyn Beverley singing 60s pop, blues, rock , and very pleasant it is.  Some known people backing her.
