Has the straying into audio territory troubled you?

Liege and Lief  (Remastered CD, Island, 2002).

Not my favourite Fairport album.  That would be Holidays. L&L always sounds  cluttered and closed in to me.  This CD doesn't help.    Some great singing on it  though, and you  get 2 bonus tracks.

It's my least favourite of the classic first 5 (or 6).  I value, understand and appreciate its importance in the canon...but I don't love it anywhere near as much as the other 4.  Not sure I really agree about the overall sound, mind.  And, tbh, I just laugh when I hear audiophiles talk - it's mostly nonsensical to me, just something to put between the music and the mind.  By any means possible is my mantra.  Which is probably why I like 8-tracks and cassettes

I'm an oddity.  An audiophile i suppose,  but  one of my  cassette players is in for service as we speak  i'm much looking  forward to its return.

Part one was around for a long time online, and i think the price was lowish. Maybe it didn't sell too well.

Usually about £50. Barnardos had it at a much more reasonable price.

So much to love here.  What a finale to a long career.

Not a  wonderful  sounding  disc, but such a great  record from  a mini legend of  folk rock.  You get some bonus stuff including 2008 recordings. The boxed set has everything, for those who want it.

I wonder if anyone saw the On the Shore band a few years ago?

I had a ticket for it, but then got ill.  A great regret.  The box set on CD is essential for any fan of the band.

The vinyl boxed set is pretty near flawless as to content  and quality. I'e had every reissue of both albums,  almost, and am now down to my CBS On the Shore and the boxed set.  If the former hits Nick Drake level  as to price, i may sell it. :-)

It would be amazing if some  high quality live material surfaced- i'm not counting the pseudo - live  Trees Live boot.

I'm fairly certain there was an interview with DC and maybe others around the release of the box, and they explicitly stated there wasn't any decent live material...but I might be misremembering that.
