It's a term audiophiles sometimes use for a sound where it's hard to discern the different strands of a recording.

Hmm.

Jules

Meaning?

Has the straying into audio territory troubled you?

Liege and Lief  (Remastered CD, Island, 2002).

Not my favourite Fairport album.  That would be Holidays. L&L always sounds  cluttered and closed in to me.  This CD doesn't help.    Some great singing on it  though, and you  get 2 bonus tracks.

It's my least favourite of the classic first 5 (or 6).  I value, understand and appreciate its importance in the canon...but I don't love it anywhere near as much as the other 4.  Not sure I really agree about the overall sound, mind.  And, tbh, I just laugh when I hear audiophiles talk - it's mostly nonsensical to me, just something to put between the music and the mind.  By any means possible is my mantra.  Which is probably why I like 8-tracks and cassettes Grin

I'm an oddity.  An audiophile i suppose,  but  one of my  cassette players is in for service as we speak  i'm much looking  forward to its return.

That's normally pretty pricey isn't it?  Good?

Part one was around for a long time online, and i think the price was lowish. Maybe it didn't sell too well.
