And I love Diesel Park West

You could just stop there. Great band, especially the first album.

Well, it would help if I'd ever heard anything else by them. What's my gateway track?

I guess it would have to be All The Myths On Sunday for me but almost anything from the debut album or the great B sides compilation Flipped will give you a feel.

They turned up as a late replacement at the first GBFF, playing mainly West Coast covers and were excellent.

That title rings a bell. Was it a minor hit?

I've heard that they have a whole second career doing that and that they're great at it.

What is GBFF?

Number 66 with a bullet!  Grin

I think it got quite a lot of airplay at the time though.

"with a bullet"... reminds me to have a listen to the Mothers' Fillmore 71 album. Which might then tempt me to go for the new box of said shows. Damn!

Great British Folk Festival, though why on earth the Diesels would have been there I can't imagine. They are not remotely folk.

Well that's also the case with many acts prforming at many "folk" festivals.

It was the year several bands wouldnt travel due to the weather. I think that they came from somewhere quite close, Leicester?, and were a last minute replacement . I heard at the time that Rod Clements had dug himself out of 6 ft of snow to get there! It probably has a lot to do with agents as well.

Care of Bandcamp, listening to the new album from Envy of None (Alex Lifeson's new band).  Quite pleasant electronic pop, and as was flagged up ahead of time, nothing like Rush. Nice way to pass some time, but I don't think I'll be investing.

Rab Noakes  :  Bridging the Gaps (Neon records 2CD,  2017).

Although I know of him,  his music is totally new to me. I was gifted this 2CD set, along with one other RN disc.  His voice isn't unlike Alan Hull's (Lindisfarne) and the songs are good, without being overwhelming.

Spot on Nick, they're a Leicester band. Were originally The Psychedelic Filberts, after Leicester City's old ground at Filbert Street, but maybe understandably EMI insisted on a name change after signing them.

But that's the part that gets me the hottest....

I'm trying REALLY hard NOT to buy that set, but I fear I am not that strong.

Megson's covers album Unknown Waters.

They chose songwriters from the NE so there are songs originally done by the likes of Lindisfarne, Martin Stephenson, Jez Lowe and even a version of Chris Rea's Road to Hell which they describe as one of their favourite post-gig singalongs.  Smiley

Some classic rock this afternoon -

Aerosmith - Greatest Hits
The Animals - Best of
Bad Company (debut)
Black Oak Arkansas - Best of

I first got into BOA when a friend gave me their album X-Rated, for my 21st as I remember, though there are no tracks from that album on the Best of. One of their drummers Tommy Aldridge went on to play with Ozzy and Whitesnake.
