I had a Rush day yesterday for my birthday - started with Signals (the first Rush album I bought when it was new), then listened to the Rush 50 compilation, and finished with Permanent Waves.

I only ever saw them the once, on the Signals tour.  I listened to a load of stuff for the first time in decades a couple of years ago...I think Signals is as late as my tastes permit (although I quite enjoy the last live album).

I only ever saw them once too, on the Hold Your Fire tour (so I am somewhere on the A Show of Hands live album), but I kind of lost touch with them a bit after that. The final album (Clockwork Angels) is a great one in my opinion, but I am still catching up with some of the intermediate ones.  Before I discovered Fairport, Rush were my stand-out favourite band.

Later, I'll be listening to Max Richter's "Voices 2" album. And thereby hangs a tale...

order placed on Wednesday from a 3rd party seller via Amazon

email from Amazon Thursday evening confirming despatch (to my local Post Office for collection)

email from Amazon this morning to say order cancelled as "unable to deliver item"

another email from Amazon this morning to confirm refund as "late delivery"

yet another email from Amazon this afternoon to say "item ready for collection"

So I strolled round to the PO, fully expecting there to be nothing to collect - but, lo and behold, there it was!

Maybe I'll get a refund, maybe not, who knows?  Roll Eyes

Joan Baez :  Farewell Angelina  (Vanguard LP reissue, AAA,  2025).

A 60 year old album sounding  just as it was.  Analogue, with that rather dead sounding double bass you get on olderrecordings.  This is the nearest i've got to buying  a Bob Dylan album - several covers on here.

It's been tweaked (with a lot of engineering magic dust - presumably AI) by the same bloke who did the recent Fairport Cropredy box...

I dug out an old Rod Stewart compilation tape the other day which I bought many years ago. It has the title Every Picture Tells A Story which of course is the title of one of his studio albums but this is a compilation put together with tracks from his first 5 solo albums. It's on a German label called Karussell Gold and I suspect it was probably not an official release!

Anyway, I've downloaded copies of Never A Dull Moment and Smiler which I was listening to earlier.

I got the Untroubled : Live in Belfast 1079-83 CD  today. I think it's the other advance instalment on the box. Sounds good.

Ah, ok, sorry - I think one was an additional with the Box Set and the other was a standalone for people that didn't want to fork out for a whole box set maybe?

Yes that might be it.  I'm struggling to remember if i ordered Live in the 70s- it isn't on  my original pledge.
There is also a limited vinlyl Live at the  BBC  which is going out  separately .

Interesting- the only one i don't have covered is the Striking Miners album. I think i once had it  from a record library- remember them? - and it didn't do anything for me.

Update re the pledge - there have been some glitches and i was temporarily affected. Hope everyone gets what they ordered.

Tanita Tikaram : Love Isn 't A Right  (Cooking Vinyl  LP,  pink vinyl, 2025).

The new album. Nice.  The title track is the only track not her own. It's by Molly Drake.

Sigh. Picked up the remastered 2025 "Lamb Lies Down...", at a slight discount.

It's still awful, mostly, IMHO.
