She’s announced a change in her life, and will now release music under the name of afterlife. Link to debut song/video below; be warned, it is harsh, brutal and beautiful:

Apologies for correcting. Afterlight, not life.

Incidentally, the 23 years older ex-partner of whom she speaks and writes is of course the co-composer of The Wood and the Wire......

She's a wonderful writer and all the more so because she writes from the heart in so many many of her songs. This album looks like being really important for her as well as her fans. Waiting to hear more.

I've been supporting her on Patreon for a while. She writes a song a month for supporters. She says that a lot of those songs have inspired this album. They have been generally from her quieter, more introspective side. I have no doubt it will be worth hearing...

She tweeted this clarification yesterday:

An important clarification:
For those that know the two individuals involved in this story, no accusation of physical violence is being made in his direction. This is a comparison between experiences in one life.

Just seen that Simon Nicol is doing a very rare solo support slot for her Canterbury gig. Too far for me, but if anyone is going I’d love to know what he plays!

In case anyone interested... Theres a podcast interview done by Stephanie Merritt where Thea discusses the album from Afterlight. I listened to it on Spotify.. "Afterlight (in conversation with Thea Gilmore) " very interesting
