Well I was a bit behind on the Trad Arrr front, because I was given Cautionary Tales (already had the second one and did not even know that there was now a third !).

Also given Rick Wakeman's Red Planet (excellent), which I followed up with 3 Ages of Magick by Oliver Wakeman & Steve Howe (also really classy).

Very happy with my music based presents, this year:

Three CDs: Eagles - Live At The Forum MMXVIII, Blue Oyster Cult - The Symbol Remains and the recent Rock Candy re-release of Black Rose's 1980 album, featuring Cher & Les Dudek. All excellent.

Also received Chris Hillman's autobiography and a new electronic keyboard. Happy days!

Ultravox - Vienna Deluxe boxset
Colosseum - Live At The BBC boxset

And a pair of Clinton Heylin books, one about Bob Dylan's Blood on the Tracks and one about Fairport Convention!

That also means that "Shaddap you face" is also 40 years old.

On holiday in Turkey a group of us were singing along to Ultravox in a bar. At the chorus one of the girls sang "Oh Piano" very loudly. "Why Piano" we asked "Coz that's what he sings, innit? Ooooooohhhh Piano" even louder...

We still sing Piano when it's on the radio  Grin

A resurrection of this subject -
Regina Spektor - Home, before and after (a sublime collection of songs)
Carolyn Heston - Troubadour ( great collection of songs )
Lady Maisery - tender ( harmonious wonders from a sublime trio)
Labi Siffre - My Song ( completist collection of albums)
Eliza Carthy & The Restitution - Queen of the Whirl (from the queen of folk)
Paul Brett - Stone Survivor (4 cd box from eclectic guitarist)
Toyah - Anthem (2 cd and dvd classic Toyah)
Joan Armatrading - whatever’s for us ( surprising overlooked class album)
Rachel Unthank and the Winterset - Cruel Sister (brilliant early album)
Kevin Coyne - Sanity Stomp (1980 virgin Coyne album I can’t understand how I missed this)
Procol Harum - Exotic Birds and Fruit (3 cd set of class album).

Quite a good haul I think

Not much music-related this year. The youngest son bought me a copy of the new FC book, but I had already got myself a copy, so he replaced it with John Kirkpatrick's Wassail album from a some years back.

On the CD front just Dave Bainbridge - To the Far Away. It's had really excellent reviews, so I'm looking forward to it ...
