Now that this chunk of thread has been moved and given its own corner, might I suggest a name change? I'm not sure that "Crosby Nash" quite fits the bill. How about: "Crosby, Nash, Young & possibly Stills"? Jules Young, Young, Stills, Nash, Crosby, Dibble and Grub?

What are we defining as latter day here? From 2000 - 2010 there are several albums I like, if not love; Silver & Gold, Are You Passionate?, Prairie Wind, Chrome Dreams II. Greendale & Living With War have moments. Fork In The Road is fun if not deep. After that Psychedelic Pill and Storytone are the only ones I can really justify as albums. I know you are not fond of the writing on the latter and my preference is for the acoustic disc which I think is mostly rather lovely.
I can't even remember half of them. I adore Silver & Gold. I thought Are You Passionate?, Chrome Dreams II, and Psychedelic Pill all flirted with being good, yet were still patchy. The rest I either found dull, or clunky, or I haven't even bothered hearing. Jules Yes, I am not claiming greatness for any of them, with the possible exception of Psychedelic Pill but they are all albums that i can listen to end to end and there is greatness therein. I'm surprised you don't like Prairie Wind. It is very much in the Silver & Gold mould to my ears.

I put the four names into an anagram generator and it came up with hundreds of possibilities though this one caught my eye (minus one letter o) Ballsy Gits Synchronus

Similar sound, but a major drop-off in song quality. Jules

Crosby's Thousand Roads which I did buy and then gave away. Having listened to it on Spotify just now I think I made the right call. Not one I'd rush to listen to again.
Now listening to the CSN 77 album.
Thousand Roads is my favourite Croz solo album but I can see why you and others don't rate it. There are very few Croz writing credits, it has very soft rock, practically Yacht rock arrangements and even though it came out in 1993, it still has a very Eighties production. For whatever reason though, it really hits the spot for me.

Apparently a "Deja Vu" box on the way
" Graham Nash tells ABC Audio that among the upcoming releases is an expanded 50th anniversary reissue of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young's 1970 debut album, Déjà Vu, which he thinks will be "a four-CD box set."
Regarding the bonus material that will appear on the reissue, Graham notes that at the time Déjà Vu was made, he, David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Neil Young "were crazily writing songs…so there are many little, silly songs that didn't get finished [and]...lots of things…that people have never heard before."
He adds, "I think that they're doing a wonderful job with the packaging and with the design of the whole thing. I'm very happy with it."
Any thoughts ? If price is reasonable,I'm in

Intriguing...is Barncard involved in putting this together? I've always thought Deja Vu is actually far less than the sum of its parts...I much (much) prefer other albums involving the various members. The first CSN album is much much better (imho).

IMHO one of the great strengths of the LP age was that bands put out 40 minutes of the best stuff they had and dumped the rest -"10 tracks, all killer, no filler!". Far too many CDs were bloated full of crud. So I'll pass on 4 CD box set version of a single LP, thanks.

You'd hope so. Many years ago I got hold of a CD of offcuts that Barncard had put together - there are quite a few Stills songs from that era that didn't make the album, and at least one by Neil (I wonder if he'll let them use his stuff?). Jules

By contrast, it is one of my 10, maybe 5 favourite albums of all time. I take somebody's point about diluting the perfection but I will probably be in for this. Alongside the big Neil box, the forthcoming Dylan/Harrison set and the expanded Stage Fright reissue by The Band there is a lot of interesting archive stuff appearing in short order over the next few months.

Just watched the Hollies documentary on Sky Arts which highlights why Nash went to Los Angeles in 68 and how CSN originated. Recommended.

There's some great stuff in that. Funny how the coolest Hollie quickly became the least hip one in CSNY. Jules
