Cropredy 2018

« Reply #60 on: June 25, 2020, 01:09:30 PM »

I guess now that hotels etc have the green light to open there may be many people who had booked long in advance and are now stuck with having to pay for accommodation with nothing to do in the area and no chance of a refund. Tricky decisions to make.

Though I'm quite sure there will be more things to do/places to go in Oxfordshire that weekend than descending on the sleepy village of Cropredy

Possibly an ancient saxon burial ground, or a Roman amphitheatre, or a secret portaloo foundation.

It doesn't look quite right.

What is the roadway at the bottom left, going from backstage towards Jonah's Oak?

There is an entrance (for traders mainly, I think?) there, isn't there?

It's there so when we bring our big trucks in for the load in / out, they can drive down one side of the field, round the back to unload, and then drive out up the other side. There isn't the space for three point turns backstage, and more often than not, the ground is too soft anyway!

Edit: Thanks. Colin

I like the fact that you can clearly see the V shaped ghost of the bar.

Happy Days!

I havn't posted in here for years, and my last Cropredy was 2012.  These past years have been tough, and I have experienced pain and loss, especially March when i lost my brother to cancer, during lockdown.

I would so much liked to have gone to Cropredy 2020, and just experience the utter joy and happiness 3 days in a field in Oxfordshire gave me.

I'm sorry for your loss. I, too, find Cropredy an ideal escape, and this has been a year we all would like to escape.

So sorry to hear of your loss, Sian. I haven't been since 2017 and was so looking forward to going this year. Stay safe and, as Jenny says, hopefully 2021 will be a big party.

I hope things improve for you over the next year, Sian, and you can enjoy Cropredy 2021 as you would have liked to enjoy this year.  Take care.

So sorry for the loss of your brother, Sian; I lost a dear friend right at the start of lockdown, so not totally untouched by the virus; but it's good to see you back on TAW - really hope things are improving for you now...

And Mickf - it's never 3 years is it? Who knows.... indeed!

See you both next year!!
